Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) is a Game Pass plan that’s included as a benefit of your active partner subscription. You don’t pay anything extra to Xbox to use it. This plan is available only through participating partners
- Sign in with your Xbox account (or create one).
- If you’re eligible, you’ll see an Activate button. Select Activate to add the benefit to your account.
- You’ll see a confirmation when the activation is complete.
Note: Make sure you’re signed into the Xbox account you want to use before selecting Activate. You don’t need to use the same email address as your partner account.

Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) includes 10 hours of cloud gaming each month. If you reach your monthly limit, you won’t be able to start new cloud sessions until your time refreshes. Your limit is based on your total monthly time.
You may be unable to activate if you’re not eligible or the offer isn’t available in your region:
- This offer is only available to new or eligible returning subscribers without an active Xbox Game Pass plan.
- This offer is only available in select regions, which varies by partner. Check with your partner to see if this offer is available in your region. If you believe the offer is available in your region but you are seeing an error, make sure your Microsoft account is set to the correct region.
Your access to Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) is provided as a benefit of an active subscription to your partner’s service. If your partner subscription is canceled, ends, or is suspended, your Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) access may automatically end or be suspended as well without notice. If you re-subscribe later, you may need to reactivate the benefit (as long as the offer is still available).
If your Xbox account already has an active Xbox Game Pass subscription, you may not be able to activate Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition).
If you don’t currently have a Game Pass plan, you can activate Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) and then choose to purchase another Game Pass plan at any time. If you have both Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) and another Game Pass plan, you’ll receive the full benefits of the paid plan. As long as your partner subscription remains active, Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) may also appear on your account.
You can manage your Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) subscription through the partner that provided your benefit. Visit account.microsoft.com to see which partner is linked to your account and to be directed to their subscription management page.
After you activate the benefit, Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) will be added to your Xbox account. You can check your active subscriptions and benefits by signing in at account.microsoft.com. If Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) is active, you’ll see it listed with your other Xbox subscriptions and services.
Access to Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) is included as a benefit of your active partner subscription, with no payment to Xbox required. Your access continues as long as your primary partner subscription remains active and the offer remains available as a benefit of your partner subscription.
Yes, if a game is cloud playable and you own it digitally with Xbox, you can stream it using your 10 hours of cloud gaming each month.
Yes, you can download and play games on PC, Xbox console, and supported handhelds without impacting your 10 hour cloud gaming limit.
