The Joseon civilization is now available in Sid Meier's Civilization® VII!* As stable as it was isolated, the Joseon Dynasty was a centuries-long period of peace in Korea, marked by the elaboration of Confucianism, a strong defense, and a rich local culture. Founded in 1392, the kingdom lasted until just before the dawn of the 20th century, repelling invasion after invasion from its neighbors. It was a highly structured society, with a rich scholarly tradition that carefully monitored outside influences, selecting only that which would make Joseon prosper. It would fall in 1897, after pressure from the ascendant Meiji Empire and the United States became overwhelming.
