It was used to carry infantry, evacuate the injured, as well as for fire support. It is equipped with the MG42 machine gun with an ammunition load of 3,000 rounds for efficient suppression of enemy positions and has an 8 second reload time. The maximum speed of the Sd.Kfz. 251/1 reaches 56 km/h.
