Its armament consists of six M2 Browning machine guns mounted in the nose with a total ammunition load of 1,800 rounds, as well as two 1,000-pound AN-M65A1 bombs. Although the F-80A-5 did not see active combat in World War II, it became a significant milestone in the development of jet aviation. The aircraft was used for pilot training and as a platform for testing new technologies.
