Frequently Asked Questions
Project xCloud was the name of our public cloud gaming technology preview and was the first chapter of a multi-year journey. Starting September 15, we will offer our cloud gaming technology as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate memberships at no additional cost.
As we move to this next chapter, we are closing registration to Project xCloud (Preview) starting August 4, and will formally close the public preview starting on September 11, 2020.
Existing preview participants will have access to games in the preview until September 1. After this date, we will formally close the preview and remove all content.
Since your saved game files are tied to your Xbox profile in the cloud, you can continue your progress in those games at any time by purchasing and downloading the game to an Xbox console or PC. Many games in preview will be available through Xbox Game Pass.
Many of the games in the Project xCloud preview will be available to play with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership on Xbox consoles, PCs, and Android mobile phones or tablets at no additional cost.
Please note, not all games from preview will be available with Xbox Game Pass – if you wish to keep playing these games, you will need to purchase and download them to a PC or Xbox console where you can continue your same saved game via your Xbox profile.
Welcome! We’re bringing our cloud gaming technology to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members at no additional cost, which means you can play over 100 high-quality games on Xbox console, PC, and Android mobile phone or tablet.
New members can get started for $1. For more information, please visit: https://www.xbox.com/gamepass
Even though we are coming to a close of the first chapter of this new way to play, it’s just the start of a multi-year journey. We’re continuing to build the future of gaming, and as part of that we’ll need your help testing new technologies and features. For more opportunities to test, stay tuned to Xbox Wire.
