Windmere Isle is full of Chums — small, strange, surprisingly useful creatures. Catch them, and they become your fighters, your mounts and your workforce. CATCH THEM Wild Chums ignore you until you give them a reason not to. Weaken one with a club, a bow or your own partner Chum, then hold the orb key: an arc, a landing ring and a live catch percentage appear. The weaker the target, the higher the number — a fainting Chum is nearly a sure thing. Throw, watch the orb pulse three times, and see whether it holds. PUT THEM TO WORK Every one of the 15 species has its own work suitabilities — kindling, lumbering, mining, handiwork, transporting, planting, watering, gathering, farming. Drop a Chum at your base and it starts working on its own: hauling resources to the chest, feeding the furnace, tending the crops. Come back later and the work is done. BUILD A BASE Place a Chum Hub, a workbench, a campfire, beds and a chest, then grow outward. Unlock recipes through a technology tree, craft better tools, better orbs and better weapons, and watch your camp turn into something that runs itself. EXPLORE AND FIGHT A hand-built 600 by 600 metre island with four points of interest, a day and night cycle, caged Chums to free from a Rustband camp, and the Warden waiting at the top of Rustband Spire. Ride a Chum across the grass, glide down from a ridge, and use Bond Skills — a wool shield that halves incoming damage, a carrier that raises your carry weight, an ember strike that hits hard.
