Xbox 360 Memory Units
Technical SupportAn Xbox 360™ Memory Unit extends the Xbox 360 experience by providing a portable way to take your saved game and gamer profile to a friend's place. You can also use a memory unit to store and transport content downloads from Xbox Live® Marketplace. Important If you're using the Xbox 360 Core system and don't have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive, you'll need a memory unit to activate either your free Xbox Live Silver membership or paid Xbox Live Gold membership. Xbox 360 Memory Units are designed to work only with Xbox 360 consoles. StorageThe storage size of each memory unit is indicated on the front end of the unit. With an Xbox 360 Memory Unit, you can create an Xbox Live account, save games and other gaming info, and store anything you like, apart from music, up to its available capacity. The memory unit offers 2-MB/second write speed and 8-MB/second read speed. You can free space on a memory unit by deleting items or copying them to another Xbox 360 storage device. Connect a Memory UnitTo connect an Xbox 360™ Memory Unit, insert it into either of the two memory unit slots on the front of the Xbox 360 console.
To disconnect, simply pull the memory unit out. While you do not have to turn the system off before removing the memory unit, do not remove it while your console is reading or saving data, as data loss and other system issues may occur. Important Do not touch memory unit terminals with your fingers or allow metal parts to touch them. Doing so may damage the memory unit.
