“Listening to Yuan Wei-Ren’s Guitar” (聽袁惟仁彈吉他) is the first autobiographical song to come out of the Chinese pop music scene in a long while. The song is now on its way to become the second breakout hit of S.H.E.’s hip-hop crossover album called “Play”, which is released and distributed by HIM International.

With lyrics and melody by rising songwriter Zhang Jun-Wei,  “Listening to Yuan Wei-Ren’s Guitar” (聽袁惟仁彈吉他) tells the story of one artist’s influence upon another. Jun-Wei grew up living next door to the famous musician. Night after night, the young boy would sleep to the sounds of guitar as Wei-Ren strummed the notes of his unfinished compositions. This nightly glimpse of an artist’s creative process inspired Jun Wei to pursue a career in music himself. 

“Listening to Yuan Wei-Ren’s Guitar” (聽袁惟仁彈吉他) is about the hard yet fulfilling life of an artist – a sentiment that resonates very deeply with every member of S.H.E. who were delighted to record the song following the high praise and endorsement of Wei-Ren himself.
