Students Compete for Glory at Inaugural Inter-School Cyber Gaming Tournament

20060709_gameon_SGXbox™ brings next generation gaming to Singapore schools with the first “Xbox Game On Inter School Challenge”.  Students from 82 local Secondary Schools, Polytechnics and Universities have been invited to represent their schools in this nation-wide cyber-gaming competition.  With over SG$10,000 worth of Xbox Prizes up for grabs, the participants will come head to headon2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and Project Gotham Racing 3® to earn fame and honour.

Students can sign up at www.gameon.com.sg to take part in the open category at the Xbox “Jump In Zone” booth during the WCG Singapore Championships from Aug 10-13 at Suntec City.  Alternatively, they can take part in the lead-up events by joining the action at Funan DigitaLife Mall, SMU, Singapore and Nanyang Polytechnic. (Refer to table below)

Each of the above-mentioned venues will produce their top two winners and they will proceed to face off with the open category’s top eight.  These 16 finalists will play further series of knock-out rounds and be crowned the tournament’s ultimate champion.

As an “Official Console Partner” at this year’s WCG Asia Championships, the “Xbox Game On Inter School Challenge” is part of the event’s celebration of popular youth culture while it promotes gaming as a competitive sport.  Competitors and visitors at the Xbox “Jump In Zone” booth will also experience a selection of Xbox’s popular next generation HD games and Live Arcade titles.

This competition is open to all Singaporean citizens and permanent residents aged 13 and above. Participants must be currently attending either a secondary school or tertiary institute and a valid student pass is required upon request for verification purposes.
