Xbox Announces That “MagatamaTM”26 September 2003The Debut Title From Microsoft Game Studios In Japan Will Be Released In Asia Xbox has today set in motion an initiative that will have Asian gaming fans roaring for more. “Magatama™,” the first title from Microsoft Games Studio Japan, will thunder into Asia in November, at the same time as its global debut in Japan. “Magatama”, an exclusive Xbox title, is a 3D action adventure game set in Medieval Japan that uses a mind blowing battle concept unlike anything ever seen before. “Magatama” follows the exploits of the monk warrior Shinato as he wields dual swords in an exhilarating and powerful display of swordplay in his battle against specters and supernatural warriors from the Monkan forces. The game takes place in an alternative version of Medieval Japan, in which war between the Yamato clan and the Shogunate has led to widespread civil disorder and despair. Taking advantage of the chaos, the evil Monkan, a high Buddhist priest, gathers a rebellion force made up of specters drawn from the supernatural world. The Monkan forces already occupy the ancient capital and have further ambitions, but are opposed by the Izumo order that controls the nation’s Shinto shrines. To prevent the Monkan forces from taking over Japan, the Izumo dispatch the warrior monk Shinato to the ancient capital to eliminate them. In order to successfully fight the powerful Monkan, Shinato is vested with the ancient power of Orochi, which had previously been suppressed by the Izumi order. “Magatama” is will be launched in Singapore in late November, and will be priced at S$69.90 |
