Microsoft Singapore today announced that it will be delivering the best value to Singaporean gamers by reducing the price of the Xbox™ video game system, selected popular Xbox game titles and the Xbox Controller S. Effective from 30 June 2003, the Xbox console will retail at S$349 (incl GST), making it one of the best gaming deals in town.
"We've had a great start since launching in Singapore late last year and are firmly establishing ourselves as the provider of the ultimate gaming experience in this country," said Alex Kotowitz, Senior Director, Xbox Asia. "Now we're set to deliver increased value to the gaming community with the best possible all-round pricing."
Added Mr Alex Chua, Xbox Product Marketing Manager for Microsoft Singapore, "Providing value to the local market has always been one of our top priorities. The new pricing will strengthen our commitment to do this."
There are now close to 70 titles available in Singapore today, with another 100 scheduled for release this year. And with a price reduction on the Xbox Controller S, which will now retail for S$49.90, it's even more affordable to share the thrilling Xbox experience with your friends and family members.
"We continue to take actions that increase our competitiveness and at the same time enable the widest possible audience to experience Xbox - and now is certainly a fantastic time to experience Xbox. Hotly anticipated games like "Brute Force", "Midtown Madness 3", "Counter-Strike" and "Halo 2" are on the way in the coming months. Xbox Live, the online service that enables users to play online games via broadband with friends and other gamers around the world, is scheduled for a late 2003 launch in Asia," said Mr Kotowitz.
With an attractive new price, a tremendous lineup of games and the coming of the Xbox Live online service, Xbox represents the best choice for a wide range of consumers. "Our commitment is to offer the best system at the best price with the best selection of software," said Mr Kotowitz.
Since its launch, more than 850,000 Xbox consoles have been shipped in the region (including Japan). This, combined with the sell-out status of games designed specifically for Xbox such as "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" and "Halo," clearly demonstrates the advanced hardware features on the Xbox and reflects the demand for the video game system.
The newly priced Xbox console will be available from over 70 retail outlets across Singapore.
