Xbox Brings More Value and Great Titles to Asian Gamers
The Xbox Sega Bundle features two exclusive games

21 March 2003

Xbox today has unveiled more tantalizing reasons for Asian gamers to play Xbox.

Firstly, consumers at official Xbox retailers in Singapore can now get an Xbox system and two exclusive games from Sega — “Sega GT™ 2002” and “JSRF - Jet Set Radio Future™” — packed into one box.  The special bundle pack will go on sale on 27 March 2003 for S$388.00, which is normally the price of the console alone.

This limited offer is a great incentive for new customers to experience the gameplay, graphics, sound and power available only on Xbox while the distinctive high octane speed and extreme action of the games will endear them to Asians of all ages.

Secondly, Xbox also announced the availability of a slew of blockbuster Xbox games in Asia over the next four weeks.  These include games from Microsoft partners such as “Soul Calibur II” from Namco, “Fatal Frame” from Tecmo, plus “Kung Fu Chaos” and “Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus” from Microsoft’s own Microsoft Games Studio.

Namco, the Japanese game publisher, is the most recent partner to releases titles on the Xbox platform for Asia. Namco’s “Soul Calibur II” - the long awaited sequel to “Soul Calibur”, the popular 3D weapon-based fighting action game - will hit the streets of Singapore in April. The game will retail at S$74.90.

“Fatal Frame” is the newest survival-horror game from Tecmo to release on the Xbox platform.  The spooky thriller about a girl who sets out to solve the mystery of her brother’s sudden disappearance is based on a true story and has seen escalating buzz since early last year. With its terrifying story line and unique battle mechanics, many gaming editors have referred to it as one of the scariest games of all time. Official Xbox Magazine calls it “Scary, scary, scary-and challenging to boot! “Fatal Frame” is neither for the faint of heart nor the novice gamer.” “Fatal Frame” is now available in the shops at S$74.90.

Microsoft Games Studio will also be releasing two different fighting games in Asia to appeal to fun seekers and serious gamers.

“Kung Fu Chaos”, is a quirky game inspired by the ‘70’s Kung Fu movie era.  With a madcap cast of kitschy characters — the illusive Ninja Fu Hiya, lethal roller-skating girl Candi Roll, wisecracking Master Sho Yu, Captain Won Ton and many others — “Kung Fu Chaos” is a tribute to the cult phenomenon of martial arts movies and promises to bring players good fortune and hours of sidesplitting entertainment.  The game will hit the store shelves in Singapore from April at S$74.90

At the other end of the spectrum, “Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus”, is the most brutal and lifelike fighting game ever created for Xbox.  Players can engage in battle on the vicious streets, back alleyways and settings of modern China as two fierce sects race to secure the treasures that allow them to bargain with the gods for immortality.  Players will be drawn into the deep back-story and excruciating realism as clothes tear, blood spills, and bones break.

The game will be available from April at S$74.90

“Xbox is all about games,” said Alex Kotowitz, senior director, Xbox Asia. “With the release of these titles from both our partners and our own studio, we now have close to 50 titles across all genres available in Asia.  The portfolio is growing rapidly and we plan to have up to 100 titles in market by the end of 2003.  This means that Xbox has the fastest growing range of games for any platform in Asia and it demonstrates the commitment of Xbox and its partners to the Asian gamer.”

“The continual release of new games and the introduction of the Sega Bundle are again signs of our commitment to gaming in Singapore,” said Alex Chua, Xbox Product Marketing Manager for Microsoft Singapore.

Xbox is currently available in over 50 selected retail outlets throughout Singapore.
