Award Winning “Halo” is Now Available in Singapore

10 February 2003

Following the successful launch of the Xbox™ video game system in Asia, more gamers in the region will now be able get their hands on the million selling, multi-award winning game, "Halo®: Combat Evolved". The local version of the game, featuring for the very first time English and Chinese language options, is now available in Singapore.

The recipient of multiple industry awards for excellence, including Game of the Year at last year's Interactive Achievement Awards by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences in the US, "Halo: Combat Evolved" has earned the distinguished honour of being the fastest million-unit seller ever for any next-generation console.

"We've translated Halo into the Chinese language so that Asian gamers will be able to fully experience and enjoy the cut and thrust of the game," said Alex Kotowitz, Senior Director, Xbox Asia. " We are very mindful of the language and cultural differences in Asia and take great pains to localize selected Xbox games so that gamers will be able to get the same depth of enjoyment as gamers elsewhere."

"Localising a top title like Halo shows the commitment that we have for Xbox in this region," added Alex Chua, Xbox Product Marketing Manager, Microsoft Singapore. Voice talents from Taiwan were used in creation of the local version.

About the Game - Halo: Combat Evolved

"Halo™" is a sci-fi shooting game that takes place on a mysterious alien ring-world. Packed with combat, "Halo" will have players battling on foot, in vehicles, inside and outdoors with Alien and Human weaponry. The objective: to uncover "Halo's" horrible secrets and destroy mankind's sworn enemy, the Covenant.

Featuring the most advanced gaming platform in the world with superb surround sound, gamers can practically feel the violent explosions and hear bullets fired from behind and watch as they strike their targets in front of them.

Players can destroy their enemies with a vast array of Human or Covenant weaponry ranging from the stealthy to the fierce. Using the Xbox System Link Cables, eight players can play or if Ethernet cables are used, up to 16 players can gather together to form teams. They can then each choose a role, and fight cooperatively with friends, battle it out Deathmatch style via intense split screen or LAN-play. They can also fight co-op with a friend through the single player missions in "Halo's" ultra-realistic indoor and outdoor environments.

Developed by Bungie Studios, Halo: Combat Evolved is on sale now through official Singapore Xbox retailers for an estimated retail price of S$74.90.
