What is abuse?

Abuse relates to any violations of our terms of service or code of conduct that includes behavior like harassment, bullying, posting inappropriate content, etc.

How do I report abuse?

Where you report abuse depends on where the abuse is occurring and the type of abuse you are reporting. See below for more information.

Xbox LIVE Profiles and Users

If you believe that an Xbox LIVE player has violated the Xbox LIVE Code of Conduct, you can file a complaint against that player. To do so, open the player's profile, select File Complaint, and choose the specific reason for the complaint. You may choose from the following:

  • Profile: The player's gamertag, personal picture, or personal information contains inappropriate material.
  • Text and Voice Communications: The player used vulgar, hateful, harassing, or threatening language in voice or text communications.
  • Video Communications: The player was vulgar, hateful, harassing, or threatening in video communications.
  • Tampering: The player tampered with a game, an Xbox 360 console, Xbox LIVE, or the feedback system.

For more information see the Code of Conduct

Kinect for Xbox 360 Pictures on the Web

If you find an inappropriate picture taken using a Kinect sensor, you should report the image to the website or web property that is hosting that picture. If that is not possible or no action is taken, you can click the Report Abuse link on www.kinectshare.com and provide the link and we will investigate the image and take the appropriate action.

Kinect Labs Pictures or Videos

Kinect Labs allows you to report pictures and videos directly from the experience. Go to the picture or video that you are concerned about and select 'Mark Inappropriate'. The picture or video will be sent to our moderation team for review and action and you will no longer be able to see the content.

Games and Apps on Xbox 360

Many games and applications have the ability to report text, pictures, videos, and other content that is specific to that title. Car skins, emblems, text posts, etc. may have the ability to report abuse. Check with the game publisher for more information if you would like to report abuse for a specific game or application. You can also file a complaint against that user if you believe they have violated the Xbox LIVE Code of Conduct.

Xbox.com Forums

The Xbox.com Forums have an option to report each forum post for review by Microsoft moderators. Go to the forum post you want to report and click the icon. Provide the reason for reporting the post and a moderator will take the appropriate action upon review.
