Create an Online Profile: Migrate Your Account

During initial setup of an Xbox 360™ console, existing Xbox Live members have the opportunity to migrate their account information to their Xbox 360 consoles.

To migrate your existing Xbox Live membership to Xbox 360:

1. Collect some basic information: your gamertag, your birthdate, and the e-mail address and password associated with your Microsoft Passport Network account.
   
   To collect this information from the Xbox Dashboard of your original Xbox video game system, see Collect Your Account Information.
2. Make sure your Xbox 360 console is connected to Xbox Live.

3. From the initial setup Gamer Profile screen, select I am a member of Xbox Live.
   
   
4. Select Gamertag and follow the on-screen instructions to migrate, or activate, your current membership.
   
   When you activate your existing Xbox Live account for use with Xbox 360, you're not creating an additional membership—you're simply adding to the one you already have. You'll keep your gamertag, your friends list, and other key information. And you'll have full Xbox Live Gold privileges for the remainder of your membership period. As long as you maintain the same gamertag, you can play on both the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 systems using the same Xbox Live membership.
   
   You'll be asked to select preferences for language, country/region, time-zone, and Xbox Live promotions. You will also select your gamer picture and Xbox Live Gamer Zone, both of which you can easily modify at any time.

Upon completion of initial setup you'll have the option to:

• Select Family Settings to configure your Xbox 360 Family Settings.
• Select High Definition Settings to configure your video output for a high-definition or HD-ready TV.
• Select Xbox Dashboard to view the range of options available from the Xbox Dashboard.
• Select Open Tray and load a disc to start playing a game now.
