The Halo® 2 hits just keep coming online. The latest two downloadable maps are collectively known as the Killtacular Pack, and for just $5.99, Xbox Live subscribers will get one of the larger indoor-outdoor arenas alongside one of the tightest and most claustrophobic.

Sanctuary
This installation features a two-story tower in the center that houses a tranquil pool. The structure is a bit past its prime, but gamers should stop in to pick up the only Energy Sword on the map before continuing on to ransack their opponent's base. Multiple bridges radiate from the tower and connect it to a series of platforms and raised walkways that have been assembled or carved into the rock walls themselves. There are functioning aqueducts along some of the walkways (accessible to Spartans who know how to jump), so as you're charging toward your objective, remember to watch for attacks from your blind spot overhead.

Twin bases face each other at either side of the map, each with a central stairway and side entrances. There's no way to go through the massive main gates, but you can look from one base all the way across to the other. Each base is stocked with turrets and Sniper Rifles that will reward the team with the best long-range marksmen, but there's also plenty of cover in the shallow water at ground level. Rock formations, walkway supports, and the odd half-ruined room will give you some relief in the face of enemy guns.

Though the map does not seem to cover a huge area, it can support large-scale matches because there is so much square footage available. Teams of eight or more will find that the terrain favors small, fast engagements instead of larger organized assaults. On or below the walkways, in or around the bases, no matter how many members are on your team—everyone will find something to shoot at!

Turf
Here we go from the outdoor-indoor map that favors maximum visibility to one that's almost all blind corners. Set in the narrow streets of a Halo-era Earth city, this map features long straight-aways lined with retail shops at ground level. There's a single Warthog with a pair of cargo trucks parked near the loading docks, and beyond them is a small hangar-type construct surrounded by military-style Riot Shields and Blast Shields. Multiple ramps allow players to explore the raised center portion of the city block, which is loaded with weapons, enemy bases, and spawn points. A few key breakable windows at ground level also give you access to the raised portion of the map, and players who navigate from this area across the broken concrete walls will be able to get on top of the row of containers near the loading docks for an even tighter grip on the high ground.

The Warthog is a snug fit in most of the map's tight corners, but you can squeak through if you're savvy and quick. A better strategy is to park the 'hog in a key position and use its powerful Gauss Gun to keep the enemy at bay. One good solider can fend off a whole team of enemies, forcing them to circle around and head smack dab into the rest of his team.
