Set Game Defaults with Xbox 360

Use the Game Defaults screen in your gamer profile to establish default settings for games you're about to play for the first time and for all future games. (Games you've played already will continue to use the original game defaults.)

Almost every game gives you the option to change settings like vertical look, controller layout, or player color. In the past, you had to manually set these in each new game. With Xbox 360™, however, you can set your preferences once and all your games will follow suit.

To change your game defaults, select your gamer card from any area in the Xbox Dashboard, then select Game Defaults. There are three categories, each with four default settings:

  1. General: Difficulty, Primary Color, Secondary Color, Controller Sensitivity
  2. Action: Y-Axis, Movement, Auto-Aim, Auto-Center
  3. Racing: Transmission, Camera Angle, Brake Control, Accelerator Control

So, for instance, if you always like your camera to hang off the front of your car in racing games, change the Camera Angle setting to Front. Then, the first time you start any racing game, the camera will be automatically set to the front of the car.

Note

If you set up or change a default setting after you've already played the game, the game won't pick up the changes on its own. Default settings are only picked up the very first time you play the game.
