When you connect a controller to your console, it is assigned a specific quadrant, which glows green to indicate the controller's number and position. Each subsequent controller connected to the console (up to four) is assigned an additional quadrant.

Expansion Port

Expansion port

The expansion port on your controller lets you connect expansion devices like the Xbox 360 Headset. The port features a 2.5-mm audio connector.

Charge Port

The controller is equipped with a charge port on the front of the controller. The charge port works exclusively with the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit (sold separately).

Vibration Feedback

The controller works with compatible Xbox 360 and original Xbox games to enhance your experience with physical vibrations that correspond to specific in-game events. Enable Vibration is the controller's default, but you can disable this feature if you wish (doing so will conserve battery power).

To manage the controller's vibration feedback:

  1. With your controller connected to your console , press the Xbox Guide button and select Personal Settings.
  2. Select Vibration, and then choose to enable or disable, depending on your preference.

When using the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kitto charge the controller's rechargeable battery while you play, the controller will still draw battery power (rather than AC power) to deliver vibration feedback. The status light may alternate between red and green as it uses battery power and then recharges itself.

Notes

  • When you turn off your console, your controller will still be connected the next time you turn it on.
  • Your controller is connected to only one console at a time. You can connect to a new console at any time, but your connection to the previously connected console will be lost.
  • The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller works only within 30 feet (nine meters) of the console. Objects between the controller and the console can reduce this range.
