Set Up Your HD DVD Player
Before you can use your HD DVD player, you must:
Install the HD DVD Player SoftwareBefore using the HD DVD player, turn on your console, load the supplied software disc, and follow the on-screen instructions. Position Your PlayerLike your Xbox 360 console, the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player may be positioned to sit horizontally or stand vertically. Unlike your console, however, the HD DVD player has rubber feet only on its horizontal base, making it less prone to sliding or moving when it's sitting flat. IMPORTANTDo not position the player in a location that obstructs either its fan or its cooling vents. NOTENever change the orientation of your player while a disc is loaded or while the player is on. Connect to PowerConnect the HD DVD player to power using the provided power cord and AC power supply. To connect, completely insert the power supply cord into the back of the HD DVD player until it stops. Connect the AC power cord into the power supply until it stops, then connect the power cord to a standard wall outlet. The HD DVD player includes one of the following power supplies:
Electrical SafetyAs with many other electrical devices, failure to take the following precautions can result in serious injury or death from electric shock or fire or damage to the HD DVD player. Select an appropriate power source for your HD DVD player:
To avoid damaging the AC power cord:
If the power cord becomes damaged in any way, stop using it immediately and contact Xbox Customer Support for a replacement. Unplug your HD DVD player during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time. Connect to Your ConsoleYou can connect the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player to any of your console's Xbox 360 USB ports using the provided Hi-Speed USB 2.0 cable. To connect the player to the console:
If you use the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter (sold separately), you can free up your console's rear USB port for use with the HD DVD player by connecting the wireless adapter to the back of the HD DVD player instead of the console. Note that this will not establish a wireless connection between your console and your HD DVD player. It will, however, allow your console to maintain a wireless connection with your router or second console while being simultaneously connected to the HD DVD player. The HD DVD player's connection to the console is wired. Configure Console Display SettingsTo view HD DVD movies in high definition, your console must be properly connected to a high-definition TV or monitor and must be configured for high-definition video output.
