Xbox LIVE Content with Xbox 360

Downloadable Content

Decide whether your child can download premium content from Xbox LIVE Marketplace, including games, game add-ons, movies, and TV shows. If you choose to block this content, your child can still download free content.

To configure your child's settings for downloadable content:

  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Xbox LIVE Controls.
  3. Sign in using the e-mail address and password that you used when you set up your child's Xbox LIVE account.
  4. Select Content, Downloadable Content.
  5. Select Allowed or Blocked.

Note
By default, Game Marketplace and Video Marketplace display their entire catalog to all shoppers—even if console game and video settings have been set to restrict content viewing. However, if your child tries to purchase game or video content above the rating set on the console, he or she will be required to have you enter the pass code override before continuing with the purchase.

Member Content
Decide whether your child can access content created by other people on Xbox LIVE. Member content includes images and text in games and gamer profiles.

To configure your child's settings for member-created content:

  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Xbox LIVE Controls.
  3. Sign in using the e-mail address and password that you used when you set up your child's Xbox LIVE account.
  4. Select Content, Member Content.
  5. Select Allowed, Friends Only, or Blocked.

To configure your child's settings for new online friends (including settings for approving friend requests), see New Online Friends for Xbox 360.
