Xbox LIVE Membership Creation

You can use Family Settings to decide whether new Xbox LIVE memberships can be created from your Xbox 360 console.

If you allow Xbox LIVE membership creation, be aware that you must have a high-speed Internet connection and a valid Xbox LIVE membership in order to play on Xbox LIVE®. For more information, see Join Xbox LIVE.

To allow or block Xbox LIVE membership creation on your console:

  1. Go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
  2. Select Family Settings, Console Controls.
  3. Select Xbox LIVE Membership Creation.
  4. Select either Allowed or Blocked. If membership creation is blocked, users will not be able to sign up for Xbox LIVE.
  5. To set a pass code that must be entered before anyone can change your Family Settings, select Set Pass Code from the Console Controls screen and follow the on-screen instructions. For more info, see Pass Codes for Xbox 360.
  6. After you've set your code, select Done. When prompted, select Yes, save changes to put your new settings into effect.

Tip
If your settings only apply to select members of the household, share the pass code with the people who have unrestricted use of the console. For example, you could decide to share the pass code with an 18-year-old but not share it with an 8-year-old child.

Before connecting to Xbox LIVE, you must set the system to allow access to Xbox LIVE and permit Xbox LIVE membership creation from the Family Settings screen.
