Migration Tips for Original Xbox Gamers

If you're a user of the original Xbox® video game system and you have an active gamertag, here are the most important things you need to know to migrate your account to your Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system:

  1. Your gamertag.
  2. Whether you have a Windows Live ID (formerly called a Passport Network account).

You have a Windows Live ID if you have any of the following:
    • A Hotmail account.
    • An MSN account.
    • An Xbox.com account.
  3. If you have a Windows Live ID, you need to know whether you've linked it to your gamertag, as you would to create a gamer card at Xbox.com.
  4. If you don't have a Windows Live ID, you need to set one up at www.passport.net. The process requires a valid e-mail address.
  5. In addition to the above, you'll also need these four pieces of information about your Xbox Live membership, if you have one—if you can't remember, don't worry; it's accessible from the Xbox Dashboard of your original Xbox system. For detailed instructions on retrieving it, see Collect Your Account Information.
    • Last 4 digits of your credit card
    • Full name
    • Phone number
    • ZIP code

That's it! If you have this information, migrating your existing account to your Xbox 360 console will be a piece of cake.

Please be aware that if you're a minor, you'll also need a parent handy, and your parent will also have to supply Passport credentials.
