Use Windows Connect Now with Xbox 360

Microsoft® Windows® Connect Now (WCN) technology makes it easier for you to add devices like the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system to your existing wireless network.

Creating a secure wireless network and delivering the necessary wireless settings to wireless devices is difficult for even the most knowledgeable user. WCN is designed to address the need for a simple yet secure method of configuring wireless networking devices, including PCs.

Windows Connect Now is included with XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and later versions of Windows.

To use WCN to configure the wireless settings for your Xbox 360 system:

  1. Connect a wireless networking adapter, such as the Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter, or a wireless bridge bearing the Xbox Live® Compatible logo to your Xbox 360 console.

For information about other networking equipment and Xbox Live compatibility, see Compatible Home Networking Equipment.
  2. Use WCN on your PC running Windows XP SP2 or later to transfer your wireless settings to a portable USB flash drive (required and sold separately).
  3. On your Xbox 360 console, go to the System area.
  4. Select Network Settings, then Windows Connect Now.
  5. Connect your USB flash drive to the rear USB port on your Xbox 360 console. When prompted, select Test Xbox Live to apply your wireless settings.
