Give the following possible solutionsa try. More often than not, one of these will get you back on track.

Set Up Your Connection

Use Equipment that Works with Xbox Live

The following equipment has been tested with Xbox Live and can be used to connect to Xbox Live with Comcast:

• Motorola SB3100
• Motorola SB4200
• Linksys BEFCMUH4
• Netgear CG814W

Choose your connection type

For Comcast, you can share your Internet connection with Comcast PRO. Alternately, we suggest youuse either a direct connection or a router connection. For more information, choose the way you want to connect to Xbox Live.

Comcast PRO

The router scenario documented aboveis not directly supported by Comcast. Comcast does support the sharing of one Comcast high speed Internet connection by multiple devices:

• Customers with home networks may order additional network addresses in order to connect several computers to the service through one cable modem.
• You must first subscribe to the basic Comcast High-Speed Internet Service.
• Once you become a subscriber, you can sign up for a second and third address.
• You will need to have access to network expertise because Comcast High-Speed Internet Service neither installs nor supports networks.
• The cost is $6.95 per month for each additional outlet. Customers can have two additional addresses, for a total of three.
• It is not necessary to purchase and install a NIC for your Xbox console, as the Xbox Ethernet port is already included.

Another solution is to use Comcast PRO. When using Comcast PRO, each device on your network isable to communicate independently of other devices. You do not need to reconfigure your Xbox console with Comcast PRO, as the default setting (automatic) allows your Xbox console to receive an IP address.

Direct Connection with Comcast

For a direct connection, you will need a standard Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors. To directly connect your hardware:

1. Turn off your devices (Xbox console,Comcast cable modem, and, if you have one, yourPC) before connecting any cables.
   
   You must disconnect your modem from its power source to turn it off.
   
2. If the PC NIC is already connected to the modem, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the PC NIC.
3. Connect the Ethernet out port on the cable modem to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox console using the Ethernet cable.
4. Turn on your modem.
5. Turn on your Xbox console, with no disc in the disc tray.
6. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Settings, Network Settings, and thenConnect.

Your settings are now used to connect to Xbox Live. Progress is displayed on the Connect Status screen. If the last item is "Connected to Xbox Live,"congratulations! You are connected to Xbox Live.To create your Xbox Live account, see Account Creation, or for more information about managing your account, see Account Management.

Router Connection with Comcast

To connect to Xbox Live with a router connection, you'll need three Ethernet cables with RJ-45 connectors and a cable/DSL router. To share with a PC, you'll also need an Ethernet NIC installed in the PC.

To share your Comcast Internet connection with your PC using a router:

1. Turn off your devices (Xbox console, DSL/cable router, Comcast cable modem, and PC) before connecting any cables.
   
   You must disconnect your modem from its power source to turn it off.
   
2. If the PC NIC is already connected to the modem, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the PC NIC.
3. Connect the Ethernet out port on the cable modem to the Ethernet in port on the DSL/cable router using an Ethernet cable.
4. Connect one of the Ethernet out ports on the cable/DSL router to the Ethernet in port on the PC NIC using an Ethernet cable.
5. Connect another Ethernet out port on the cable/DSL router to the Ethernet port on the back of the Xbox console using an Ethernet cable.
6. Turn on your devices. You should turn them on in order from the wall jack out. This means, first turn on your modem, then your router, then your PC.
7. Verify that the PC can access the Internet. If not, see Troubleshooting Your Connection with Comcast.
8. Turn on your Xbox console with no disc in the disc tray.
9. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Settings, Network Settings, and then Connect.

Note With a router connection, you do not need to turn on your PC to access Xbox Live from your Xbox console.

Your settings are now used to connect to Xbox Live. Progress is displayed on the Connect Status screen. If the last item is "Connected to Xbox Live," congratulations! You are connected to Xbox Live. Troubleshooting your Connection with Comcast

The network troubleshooter will automatically provide you with an error message and suggested solutionsfor your connection. Note the error message title (such as No Connection, Network Error, IP Conflict) to help troubleshoot the error, and follow the suggestions provided by the network troubleshooter.
