As Global Director of Games for Windows at Microsoft Corp., Kevin Unangst is responsible for driving Microsoft's Games for Windows initiative and fostering the development of Microsoft Windows as a gaming platform. Unangst’s team evaluates and anticipates Windows gaming market trends and drives partnerships with game publishers, retailers, computer manufacturers and hardware developers to ensure that the Windows platform delivers compelling experiences for gamers and serves as a viable and profitable game-development platform. His responsibilities also include global marketing of the gaming technologies in Microsoft’s flagship operating system, Windows Vista™.

Before joining the Entertainment and Devices Division, Unangst was the director for Microsoft’s Windows Digital Media Division; his group was responsible for product planning and marketing for Windows Media, Microsoft’s family of multimedia technologies. He also held various positions in the Microsoft Internet Explorer team from its inception in 1995. Unangst began his 17-year tenure at Microsoft as a systems engineer, designing product solutions and speaking at industry events to thousands of customers and partners, including some of Microsoft’s largest corporate accounts. Before joining Microsoft, he was a manager and technology specialist for Babbage’s Inc., a pioneer retailer in personal computer software and video games.

A technology lover and gamer at heart, Unangst’s first computer was a Timex Sinclair ZX-81, and he has owned nearly two dozen gaming consoles, beginning with the Atari 2600. In his spare time, he collects and restores classic pinball and arcade games.
