Top Ten Reasons to Renew

If you’re reaching the end of your Xbox Live® subscription, we’d like to take this opportunity to say that we love you, and we don’t want to lose you! Here are the top ten reasons to renew your subscription.

1. Games!
Halo® 2, anyone?

What, you need more than that? If you don’t renew, you’ll miss out on kick-ass Xbox Live-enabled games like Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® 3: Black Arrow™, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® Pandora Tomorrow™,Counter-Strike™, and numerous great EA SPORTS™ titles. One million Xbox Live subscribers in 24 countries are waiting to take you on in the best games from the best developers.

2. Keep your gamertag
Dude, your ‘tag is your rep. It’s your online identity, your Xbox Live persona. What are you gonna do without it? You may have spent a year kicking butt and taking names asSpleenex, but if you don’t renew your subscription, you’ll lose that ‘tag, and Spleenex could be forgotten. Worse, some newbie could pick it up and drag your once-respectable identity through the mud. Don’t let that happen!

3. Content Download
Hey, we’ll be the first to admit that the downloads started as a slow trickle. But now … look out world! Now we’ve got more than200 downloads available, from roster updates to maps, missions, characters, vehicles, skins, quests, and more. We’ve seen a few premium downloads—the ones that cost you a little scratch—but most of them are absolutely free.

4. Keep Your Friends and Stats
If you’ve spent time building a Friends List and making a name for yourself on the scoreboards, the last thing you want to do is lose it all. If you let your subscription run out, say adios to all your Friends and stats. Then sit down for a good cry. How to prevent this tragedy? Renew, of course!

5. Tournaments and Events
You’ve seen gamers just like you win trips to compete in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, and even France. If you’ve got the skills, you too can win big prizes and even bigger experiences on Xbox Live. Plus, we’ve brought you guys so many exciting events in the past year, how could you even think of giving it up? You’ve been able to race against NASCAR driver Robbie Gordon, kill Nazis with The Used, Mest, and Less Than Jake, hit the virtual ice with Thrice, and capture the gold with Hoobastank. All that’s just the beginning … we’ve got more bands, promotions, and tourneys coming than you can shake your thumbstick at.

6. My Live
How sweet is it to access your Friends List from your computer? Once you’ve linked your gamertag to the Xbox.com Web site, you’ll be able to check up on Friends whenever you want. We’ve even got exclusive stuff for those who link their ‘tags on My Live—like the chance to buy concert tickets before they’re available to the public, and access to celebrity interviews that only linked gamers can get to.

7. Team and Competition Features
When we updated the Xbox Live service back in April 2004, we promised awesome new features that game publishers could implement, like clans, teams, tourneys, and more. The catch was that you had to wait for the games that used them to come out. Well look out, 'cause here they come. MLB® SlugFest®: Loadedlets you create and customize your own baseball tournaments online, and Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow lets you create in-game clan competitions, text and voice message friends while they’re playing, and more.Halo 2, MechAssault® 2: Lone Wolf, Iron Phoenix™, and others have also incorporated many of these features.

8. Voice Chat and Voice Messages
That’s right, you guys have been asking for these features since Day One! They’re here, and, man, are they good. Attach a brief Voice Message to your Friend Requests for that personal trash-talking touch. Send chat requests to your Friends and even Friends of Friends, and hook up for some pre-game strategizing and post-game debriefing. Once you’ve tried Chat, you’ll never go back.

9. Messenger and Alerts
The Xbox® MSN Messenger tab and Xbox Live Alertskeep you hooked into your game world 24/7. The Xbox tab for MSN Messenger lets you keep up with the latest news, events, promotions, and game releases. If you’re gamertag-linked you can see your Friends List right there in Messenger, too! That’s not even all the gamertag goodness: Sign up for Xbox Live Alerts to get up-to-the-minute news about game releases, downloadable content, Xbox Live events and more—in Messenger ‘toasts,’ by e-mail, and even on your MSN-enabled cellular phone.

10. Xbox Live Aware Games
There’s a great crop of games out there that are Xbox Live Aware. That means you play 'em solo, but they keep you hooked into the Xbox Live community. So you’re chilling out, playing Fable™ or The Chronicles of Riddick™: Escape from Butcher Bay all by your lonesome, and suddenly a little box pops up in the corner of your screen. Yep, you can receive Friend Requests and game invitations while you’re playing these titles. And when your Friends sign into Xbox Live they’ll see that you’re online. How cool is that? You’ll never miss an Xbox Live opportunity again.
