People in Planes

The Welsh rock quintet People in Planes began when one band member met another by accidentally smashing a tennis ball in the other's face. That's quite a beginning for songwriters Peter Roberts and Gareth Jones, but they've parlayed that initial meeting into two top-selling rock albums, As Far As The Eye Can See, and the new release, Beyond The Horizon.

Now signed with Wind-up Records, and on the heels of their first hit single "If You Talk Too Much (My Head Will Explode)," the release of the new album combines all the stand-up-and-rock attributes for which the band is known, a sound they describe as "modern yet human, with a global reach and sense of transit and adventure."

The group consists of Gareth Jones (vocals), Peter Roberts (guitar), Kris Blight (bass), John Maloney (drums), and Ian Russell (keyboard). Jones and Roberts state that one of their big influences was the band Supergrass. "They were not too dissimilar to us in age, so we could really relate to what they were doing," says Jones.

Now with the release of Beyond The Horizon, after appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live, and fresh off major tours including South by Southwest and the CMJ Music Festival, People in Planes is set to bring their jet-setting brand of alternative rock to your playlist.
