When old friends Jack White (one-half of The White Stripes), Patrick Keeler and Jack "LJ" Lawrence (of The Greenhornes), and Brendan Benson (noted solo artist), came together to form The Raconteurs, they wanted to do things a little different. They had played together before but when their debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, released in 2006, rocketed up the charts, and won them Rolling Stone magazine's Best New Artist award, they knew that The Raconteurs were on the road to success.

And be sure to check out their latest album, Consolers Of The Lonely, released early in March of this year. The band recorded the work at the Blackbird studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Keen to have fans hear the work as soon as possible, they eschewed pre-release publicity and put it directly to the fan base, who has responded by driving the album to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart.
