Emerging Artist:

Innerpartysystem

Published December 9, 2008

Innerpartysystem is a quartet made up of Patrick Nissley (vocals), Jarred Piccone (drums), Kris Barman (synth and guitar), and Jesse Cronan (synth and samples), but they're not about individual fame. "We don't want attention on us," says … er, one of them. "There's no one leader, no frontman—this is a collective. We're not concerned about who we are outside of the music. In a way, the less people know about us, as people, the better. Hey, even on stage, we're backlit, so we just show up as silhouettes.”

The band, named after a George Orwell concept from his book 1984, formed in 2002 against the industrial background of Reading, Pennsylvania, which may have contributed to their electro-mechanical sound. After the band's founders Nissley and Piccone acquired the synthesizer talents of Barman and Cronan, the band really began to take off, being signed by Stolen Transmission Records in 2006.

Their debut EP, Download, includes perhaps the band's most famous song, "Don't Stop." This track, also available on the new album, was brought to the attention of gamers as it appeared in both Madden™ NFL 09 and Burnout™ Paradise. But now, others will be able to hear the band's great sound as they've just released a self-titled full-length album.
