Emerging Artist:Ace HoodPublished Speptember 2, 2008 Play Madden NFL 09 in our Game with Fame with Ace Hood October 14. With an ace up your sleeve, how can you go wrong? That might be a question Ace Hood has asked himself about his meteoric rise to fame. Born Antoine McColister in Broward County, Florida, Ace scored his first hit at the age of 17 with "M.O.E. (Money Over Everything)" which created a buzz in South Florida. But then the big break came when he performed at DJ Khaled's birthday party.
Ace Hood. "We was outside the radio station not even trying to get a deal, just hoping to perform at his birthday bash," he recalls. "Although he had to go to a meeting, he came out, looked at me and said, 'I love his image.' We handed him a CD and once we did that, he listened to it and called my manager that night. He said, 'I love his swag, I hear starvation in his music and I want to take a meeting with him.'" That led to Ace being the first artist signed to DJ Khaled's "We the Best" label distributed by Def Jam Records.
Ace Hood is thinking about his next song. Before the album, Ace has released a hot single, "Cash Flow," featuring Rick Ross and T-Pain. That single has set the stage for Ace's debut album, Gutta, coming out soon. Gutta will feature guest appearances by Trick Daddy, Flo Rida, Akon, and Plies, and looks to be a sure-fire hit. "This album is definitely gonna be a classic," Ace says confidently. "People are expecting a lot out of me not only because I'm on Khaled's label, but because everyone knows that the ace is ranked as the highest."
