Intense rockers Jet Black Stare have just released their debut album, In This Life, on Island Records, and their initial success bodes well for the future. With "the pedal to the metal" and "fuel burnin' like a freight train," two of their songs, "Ready to Roll", a hard-charging ode to speed, and "It's Over" will be featured on the soundtrack for EA SPORTS' NASCAR® 09.

Rod Black is the lead singer of the group, and writes the songs with his fellow Canadian and producer Jeff Johnson. "We have that rare, special chemistry," says Black, "We hardly ever bump heads, we're always on the same page." Along with Shane Hayes on bass, Flip and Dave Muselman on guitars, and Dan Swinimer at the drums, this is Jet Black Stare.

"A good song is a good song, man, simple as that!" Rod Black's mantra is showcased by the songs found on this album. The band looks to make people feel connected and to find a common thread in everyday struggles. For example, the track "Fly" was inspired by a group of young street kids Rod attempted to help, and "Next to Me" is about the sacrifices one must make for the greater good when being away from family.
