Augustana released their major label debut, All the Stars and Boulevards, just last year, but they have already successfully toured with bands like the Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, and The Fray. With moving vocals and powerful instrumentals, Augustana stands out from today's pop music with a classic, accessible sound. Characterized by beautiful melodies that are often driven by haunting piano lines, Augustana has drawn favorable comparisons to monster piano rockers Coldplay. Driven by excellent reviews, a top 20 video on VH1 for their hit single "Boston," and a special edition CD at Best Buy, Augustana have proven to be a band to take seriously. A simple and classic success story, Augustana was founded by frontman Dan Layus at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. Before graduating, Layus decided to take his shot at fame and moved to Los Angeles. The band recently completed a tour with Snow Patrol in support of their debut album. |
