The latest Artist of the Month is Audioslave, an alternative rock supergroup headed by Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden fame) and the musicians of Rage Against the Machine. Audioslave will be featured during August in Xbox Live® Marketplace as the Artist of the Month. The Grammy-nominated quartet (vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford, and drummer Brad Wilk) recorded their new album Revelations at Henson Studios in Los Angeles with acclaimed producer Brendan O'Brien. O'Brien, whose myriad credits include Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen, mixed Audioslave's Out of Exile record and the Live in Cuba CD and DVD.
These guys are ready for some Madden . Cornell's powerful voice and Tom Morello's unique guitar style drives the music, with hip-hop style solos and synthesizer-like sound effects. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone.com, guitarist Tom Morello described the record as "Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind, and Fire," adding that it's a "big hard rock record with a funky bottom." Among the album's many highlights is the groove-driven lead single, "Original Fire," and "Wide Awake," about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. "It's probably Audioslave's most political song to date," says Morello. Epic Records has announced a September 5 release date for Revelations, the band's highly anticipated new album. Revelations follows 2005's Out of Exile, which debuted at number one on Billboard's Top 200 and featured the Grammy nominated single, "Doesn't Remind Me." Audioslave will also be playing Madden NFL 07 in September as part of the Game with Fame program. If you think you can handle the competition, register here before August 31. Audioslave is also part of the Axis of Justice, which is a non-profit organization formed by Morello and Serj Tankian from System of a Down. Its purpose is to "bring together musicians, fans of music, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice together." |
