Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball
There's no plot to this game, but then again it doesn't need one. The single-player game lets you and some A.I. teammates duke it out in a series of paintball tournaments against tougher and tougher A.I. competition. You can also go online and take on the best Xbox Live⢠has to offer. The controls will be familiar to anyone who's played an FPS, and since there are no grenades, health packs, armor, or motion detectors, the designers were able to include a few nifty extras like the ability to dash, dive, and crawl. The action is very quick, and while it only takes one shot to eliminate a player, you can take advantage of the game's "cheat" mini-game and try to wipe off the paint before the ref can call you out. If you succeed, you get to keep playing; if you are caught, you and your team may be punished.
Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball has all the action and excitement of a war-based FPS without the bullets or blood. The battlefields are full of tight corners and obstacles that either team can use for cover, so you never know when the action will heat up and the paintballs will start flying. The game's simplicity works in its favor and its tight focus on realistic action truly makes it seem like you're in a real paintball match, especially when you team up with other people online. I give Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball a 4.5 out of 5. |
