Achievement Strategy: Double Agent

At A Glance
  • Strategy for the most difficult achievements in Double Agent.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® Double Agent™ boasts a wide variety of achievement challenges. Some you receive in the natural course of playing the game, and others are reserved for online play. Another group of achievements, however, require some foresight, planning, and a willingness to sacrifice your missions in order to save lives.

This guide will walk you through the most difficult achievements offered in Double Agent, including the Hero, Agent of the Month, and Collector achievements, each worth 20 points.

Spoiler Warning!
Be advised that each of the single-player achievements covered in this article touch on some major plot points. If you haven't played all the way through the game yet and you don't want anything spoiled, you might want to come back after you finish playing through.

Hero Achievement
There are three crucial moments throughout Double Agent that will determine whether or not Sam merely completes his mission, or comes out a hero.

If you shot that poor pilot at the beginning, don't sweat it. It's a shame, but it won't prevent you from getting this achievement. Here's what counts:

  • Save the Boat: You planted the bomb on the cruise ship in Cozumel, and now you need to stop it. First make sure you captured the bomb's frequency. After you plant the bomb, stand next to it, and you'll get the option to capture the frequency. At the end of JBA HQ Part 3, choose to jam the signal instead of letting the bomb go off. If you were really on the ball, you snagged the code from Enrica's office, and you can frame her for jamming the frequency instead. Just don't let the bomb go off.
  • Save Hisham: When Emile finds out that Hisham is an NSA mole, he sends you to assassinate him. Don't do it. When you have Hisham in your sights, kill the soldier he's arguing with instead. This will allow Hisham to escape, and will also unlock an additional 10 point achievement for saving his life.
  • Save Lambert: At the beginning of JBA HQ Part 4, Emile leaves you in an interrogation room with Lambert and Jamie Washington. Emile tells you to kill Lambert, but if you kill Jamie instead, you will not only land the Hero achievement, but another 10 achievement points for saving Lambert.

Perform these heroic acts, finish the game, and you earn the Hero achievement, worth 20 points!

The Collector Achievement
This achievement requires you to unlock every piece of spy-gear in the game. In the objectives menu on your OPSAT you'll notice each mission has several objectives with star icons next to them. If you complete these, you will unlock new equipment at the end of the level. The key here is to make sure not to end a level without completing each of these objectives.

As long as you meet every single one of these objectives, you will unlock the Collector achievement, worth 20 points. Luckily, none of these challenges are particularly difficult, most simply require you to make your way through the level without activating any alerts.

Agent of the Month Achievement
For some achievements, it's not about the points, but the prestige. You may only net 20 gamerscore by getting the AOM achievement, but it is by far the most challenging achievement in the single-player campaign. To earn this achievement, you'll need the following information from every major member of John Brown's Army:

  • Professional background info
  • Personal background info
  • Retinal scan
  • Voice sample
  • Fingerprints

How to retrieve each of these items will be listed under the name of the JBA member. Each room name mentioned is taken directly from your OPSAT map, so if you're confused, hit the back button and check the map to get your bearings.

Jamie Washington

  • Voice Sample: When cracking Emile's safe during JBA HQ Part 3, you have the opportunity to record both Jamie and Emile's voices. Stay hidden in the shadows near the safe and you'll be fine.
  • Retinal Scan: You can pick this up just after you shoot Jamie instead of Lambert in interrogation room in the beginning of JBA HQ Part 4. Scan the retinas after you take Jamie out.
  • Fingerprint: Jamie's prints can be found on top of the filing cabinet in his bedroom when you get his personal files.
  • Professional Background Info: This is only available during JBA HQ Part 4, after you access the retina-scan locked elevator.
  • Personal Background Info: These files are next to Jamie's bed in his bedroom. His room is right across from the pool room, upstairs in the John Brown compound.

Enrica

  • Voice Sample: At the beginning of JBA HQ Part 3, Enrica will escort you to the mine manufacturing station. When you get there, she'll use a voice activation lock. Back up into the shadows before she speaks, and record her voice unseen.
  • Retinal Scan: One way or the other, Enrica should be dead at the end of JBA HQ Part 3. Find her body on a slab in the Furnace room, and gather the data.
  • Fingerprints: Enrica's prints can be found on top of the file cabinet in the locked office in the back of the Infirmary. When Enrica goes into the office, you can sneak in after her if you're very, very careful.
  • Personal Background Info: Enrica's files are in her bedroom in the General Quarters area of the map. Her room is across the hall from the elevator. It will be easier to do this during JBA HQ Part 4, when you won't be undercover anymore.
  • Professional Background Info: This batch of files is in Enrica's Workshop. Again, this is easier during JBA HQ Part 4. If you don't want to wait, the corridor is guarded by a security camera, and you can get around it by shimmying along the pipe on the ceiling.

Dayton

  • Voice Sample: Enter Dayton and Jamie's bedroom during JBA HQ Part 3, when he's troubleshooting a radio problem. Take this opportunity to record his voice.
  • Retinal Scan: During JBA HQ Part 4, you can get the drop on Dayton in the Server Room. Simply take him down and scan his retinas.
  • Fingerprints: Dayton's prints are on the keypad that leads to the Server Room. Grab them on your way to get his retinal scan in JBA HQ Part 4.
  • Professional Background Info: After eliminating Dayton in JBA HQ Part 4, grab his files out of the cabinet next to the PC.
  • Personal Background Info: After recording Dayton's voice in JBA HQ Part 3, take some extra time to grab his personal files. They're in the cabinet next to his bed, but his movements can be a bit tricky. Wait until he's on the bed before you sneak into the room. Climb under the empty bed and wait until he leaves before retrieving the files.

Emile

  • Voice Sample: The easiest time to record Emile's voice is in JBA HQ Part 3 after you record Enrica's voice. Stay in the shadows, and you can see her speak with Emile on the stairs. You can also catch Emile before you crack the safe, when you record Jamie's voice.
  • Retinal Scan: You need Emile's retinal scan to defuse the bomb at the end of JBA HQ Part 4, so make sure to scan him after you kill him or disable him.
  • Fingerprints: Find Emile's prints on the computer he takes you to at the beginning of JBA HQ Part 3.
  • Professional Background Info: Emile's professional info is in his office near the safe. Grab it during JBA HQ Part 3 after you crack the safe.
  • Personal Background Info: Accomplish this immediately after you get his professional files. Emile's bedroom is right off his office, just to your left when you face the safe, and you'll find the files in there.

Here's where things get tricky.

Moss

  • Voice Sample: When you sneak into the Surveillance room for visual confirmation of the bomb in JBA HQ Part 3, you'll find Moss there having a conversation. This is the easiest time to record his voice.
  • Retinal Scan: The only way to retrieve Moss's retinal scan is by gaining access to the NYC Coast Guard Boat bonus mission. If you have already gained the Hero achievement, then you can access this mission. Grab the retinal scan at the end of the level after you eliminate him, but before disarming the bomb.
  • Fingerprints: Moss's prints are on top of the filing cabinet in his bedroom. Grab them when you get his personal file.
  • Professional Background Info: Moss's office is just next door to the Surveillance room, so while you're there retrieving visual confirmation of the bomb, sneak into his room. Moss' movements can be erratic, so be careful, but you're looking for the cabinet in the upper right corner.
  • Personal Background Info: Moss's bedroom is right next to the elevator in the General Quarters. The easiest time to grab this file is during the JBA HQ Part 4 when Moss is off-site.

Double Agent offers some excellent challenges and achievements, but with the preceding tips, you should have little trouble mastering the toughest achievements this game has to offer.
