Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon™ 2

Tactical Pack 2: Recon Boogaloo

Hot on the heels of the first content download forTom Clancy's Ghost Recon™ 2, Tactical Pack #1 —a free content download via Xbox Live™ that featured the Assassination and Recovery game types along with new skins, new weapons, and maps with a railway theme—comes the appropriately named Tactical Pack #2. You'll find no new weapons in the second pack, but there are more game types, maps, and skins than in the first, many of which have a wintertime vibe.

New Game Types
Ghost Recon 2 continues to diversify with three new game modes, two twists on current game types and one all-new mode, Thief.

Co-Op Hamburger Hill
Hamburger Hill, the GR2 version of an old-fashioned King of the Hill match, gets seriously intense when pared down to a two-on-two contest with co-op mode. Two teams of two requires a completely different set of strategies than the more chaotic classic mode, and will especially appeal to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® fans (and aren't we all?).

Double Siege
In the original Siege, two teams split into offensive and defensive sides—the defenders charged with defending (natch) a single base, while the offense stormed the base. Double Siege ups the mayhem quotient and levels the playing field. Both teams run both offense and defense, with two bases to defend simultaneously.

Thief
In this unusual game, individual players score points for kills. What's more, the points you get are stolen from the player you took out, providing ample reason for you to return the favor. The player with the current high score will carry a distinct icon marking him as such and making him a popular target. There's ample opportunity for alliances and betrayal—lots of betrayal—in Thief, and that's what makes it so fun.

The Bonfires map comes by its name honestly.

New Maps
This time out, Ubisoft and Red Storm are giving us four new battlefields to fight over, bringing the grand total of free downloadable maps to seven.

Bonfires
Here's where that wintertime vibe hits hard. In this frozen exterior map, darkness and the environment provide ample, and dangerous, shadowy areas outside several huge, glaring bonfires. You want to use the abundant shadows to attack from concealment, and move from point to point with extreme caution. Otherwise, the bonfires give you away. They're handy for concealing the muzzle flash, however, if you target around them.

Bonfires Day
The Bonfires area is a completely different story in the bright light of day, when the snow and clear skies let you attack (that is, snipe) from long distances. Make sure you have backup; odds are that someone else has you in his crosshairs even as you're squeezing the trigger.

Mountain Pass
The strategic opposite of Bonfires Day is Mountain Pass, which is also covered in snow but (as the name implies) confines the action to a tight, restrictive area with multiple levels of danger. Deathmatch games in the Pass are completely insane, while restricting the number of players makes this map a sneaky, stealthy haven for ambuscading.

Missile Site
In real life, few things could be more dangerous or (probably) illegal than wandering into an abandoned missile facility, but for the Ghosts, such things are all in a day's work. This missile site is falling apart, which provides ample covered behind twisted metal, crumbling walls, and rusted machinery. Be sure to get a tetanus shot before entering.

Be sure to bundle up for snow.

New Skins
Hardcore gamers will want to take advantage of the new skins provided in Tactical Pack #2 for maximum camouflage in the new, snowy environments.

Ghost Digital Camo
Two new sets of digital camouflage for each Ghost are well-suited for the Missile Site.

Winter Camo
Both the Ghosts and the North Korean character models get shocking white wintertime camouflage that's perfect for a game of Double Seige in the Bonfires Day map.
