Droid Foundry Walkthrough

By Alex McLain

The Droid Foundry is the first level where you'll start with all the members of your famed Delta Squad in place—and it marks one of the first truly challenging missions. If you've found yourself struggling with this mission (as many have) or you're simply getting your feet wet with the game and need a walkthrough to help get you acclimated, we have just what you need.

Note: We will not be dealing with the each and every fight during this walkthrough, but instead will focus on the more difficult battle and challenges. We can safely assume that if you come across a couple of basic Battle Droids or Geonosian Warriors, you'll be able to handle the situation competently.

Ugh. Bug goop on my visor.

The overriding mission seems simple enough: You're tasked with destroying an underground factory facility beneath a Geonosian spire. It's believed that the destruction of the factory can help tip the scale in the Clone Army's favor. First, though, you need to find and destroy a jamming signal that is impeding your process.

You begin the level in a short hallway, and while the Geonosian Warriors will provide you with a small skirmish, it's the sniper rifle attachment at the end of the hall that is worth noting here. Dispatch the enemies and pick up the attachment at the end of the hall. Once you pick it up, you can then click right on the D-pad to fashion the attachment to your rifle. (Click down on the right thumbstick to enter into the zoom mode.)

Next, breach the door and head down a series of hallways. Here, you'll find yourself being shot at from a bridge. Bring up your sniper rifle and pick them off. It should be easy enough. You'll then proceed across the path your already on and descend down into a lower room. This turns out to be a Geonosian birthing chamber.

You'll see a context-sensitive are near the entrance to the room that can be used as a sniping area. Click the A button to assign your resident sniper Sev to sniping mode. After heading in a few feet, you'll be accosted by a swarm of Geonosian Warriors and hatchlings as they burst from the eggs. It can be difficult to see in this chamber, so turn on your night vision (white button), and you should be able to take out the enemies much quicker.

This pistol just doesn't cut it.

You'll find ammo at the end of the chamber, and as you round the corner, you'll spot a context-sensitive grenade launching point. Assign one of your squadmates to use it.

As you head further into the next area, you'll also notice little orange crystals. Shoot these, and they'll explode, likely killing enemies hiding near them. You'll also see the jamming device—your first objective—but it's covered by a shield. You'll need to find a way to deactivate that first.

As you walk by or near the jamming device, you'll be swarmed by both Geonosians and Battle Droids. Call your squadmates to form up and don't be afraid to use your melee attack, as the battle will quickly become close-quartered. You may also want to turn on your night vision to help distinguish the enemy.

On the far end of the room (opposite of where you entered) is a computer terminal. You'll need to hack this in order to disable the shield around the jamming device. First, though, there are a couple Bacta Stations along the way, so make sure to heal your squad.

Also, don't hack the terminal yourself. Instead, assign a squadmate (the A.I. should automatically choose Fixer.), as he'll be much faster. You'll need to cover him, though, while he slices the terminal.

Bacta up!

Once the terminal is sliced, you'll need to head back and set a charge on the jamming device. Again, don't do this yourself. Assign it to a squadmate. When he begins to set the charge, you'll see a host of enemies come storming down to meet you. Most of these are Droids, so if you have the EMP grenades (the ones that shoot electricity and destroy Droids), use them.

Once they're dead, turn around to fight the Geonosians that are coming from the opposite direction. Once the charge is set, back off several yards and detonate. You should now be able to head down a corridor behind the destroyed jamming device. This will lead you to the next part of the level.

That concludes our walkthrough of the first part of the Droid Foundry section of Star Wars Republic Commando™. Things only get more challenging from here, but with a full level under your belt with all your squadmates, you should have the foundation to move forward with confidence!
