Star Wars®: Episode III Revenge of the Sith™

Jedi Tips

Playing the legendary Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi is cool enough, but learning to unlock their true potential is better still. In that light, we've fought through hundreds of battle droids and clone troopers, and survived (and died) in many a lightsaber duel to bring you this information. Use it wisely.

Combo Time
A few minutes with Star Wars®: Episode III Revenge of the Sith™ and you're in button masher's heaven. A few more minutes and you realize that there's something missing. Do yourself an enormous favor and study the combo list. You'll soon learn how deep the combo system goes.

The Duel. Brutal as it ought to be.

Counter-Attack
When battling baddies with lightsabers (you'll do this more frequently than you might think), it's crucial to learn the counter-attack system. Time your opponent's next attack, and then press Back or Forward and the left trigger to intercept and counter the blow. This will give you a small window of time to lay down a righteous combo. Don't use this exclusively in boss battles either; it's useful any time you run up against a lightsaber-wielding opponent.

Mid-Flip
It's not uncommon to go flying backward in Revenge of the Sith. Getting knocked on your keister is no fun, but you can recover wonderfully from it if you're paying attention. Simply press the A button in mid-flight, and you will right yourself, landing safely on your feet and ready for battle. This is a crucial technique, especially when you're surrounded by enemies. Use it well and use it often.

Ride 'em, cowboy!

Use the Environment
Using the Force Grab technique, you can grab hold of elements from the environment—such as exploding canisters, chairs, and hunks of debris—and fling it at your enemy. This maneuver is great for crowd control, as it can knock multiple opponents at once. You don't have to be a marksman with it, either. Simply grab the item and press in the direction of your enemy and your hero does the aiming for you.

Push and Stab
This little maneuver is especially useful when fighting one-on-one. If you flick the right trigger, your hero will use his Force Push technique, which will normally knock your opponent on the ground. As soon as your enemy is prone, run up to him and hold down the B button to perform a critical strike. This is virtually your only way to damage a prone enemy, so use it often.

Precarious position.

Judicious Lightning
When fighting a Jedi in a duel after learning to use Force Lightning with Anakin, you need to time things just right. If they've still got power left in their Force Meter, they can absorb the damage. But if you wait until their meter is depleted, you can shock them good and plenty to great effect.

Use Friendly Fire
Battle droids can suffer something fierce from their own friendly fire; they don't seem too concerned about their buddies. If one of them gets in the line of fire, it tears up its comrades just to get to you. Try strafe dodging around a large group of enemies and you may get a few of them to take each other out.

What Do I Do Next?
It's easy to get lost in the chaos of battle, so if you're caught up in wave after wave of enemies with nowhere new to go, try scanning the environment for a glowing white circle. These circles represent special in-game events such as a Force Jump or a telekinetic effect on the environment (e.g., lifting a spaceship out of your way with the Force). Simply jump into the circle and look in the left corner of the screen for an indication of what to do next (e.g., press the A button or hold down the right trigger).

Use these tips wisely and the Force will surely be with you. If not, don't blame me. To quote a wise-cracking smuggler, "It's not my fault, it's not my fault!"
