Forces of Light and Darkness

The Confederacy of Independent Systems has broken away from the Republic. The galactic government has had to raise its first army in 25,000 years of peace to put down the uprising. A force of super-soldiers has been cloned from one man and is now commanded by the Jedi Knights, now Generals of the Republic. Star Wars®: The Clone Wars™takes you onto the front lines of the battles that foreshadowed the fall of the Galactic Republic, the doom of the Jedi, and the ascension of the Emperor. The LucasArts game (which will feature full Xbox Live support and content downloads) pits familiar, but battle-hardened heroes against dark enemies, both old and new. Here's a quick rundown on the major players.

The Force is a powerful ally.

Anakin Skywalker
Though still an apprentice, Anakin may be the finest pilot the Jedi Order has ever seen. Some on the Council feel he may be the Chosen One, a prophesied Jedi that will bring balance to the Force. The former Podracer from Tatooine has grown into a formidable Jedi Padawan, studying under the tutelage of his Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin became Obi-Wan's charge when Kenobi's master, Qui-Gon Jinn, was killed dueling Darth Maul on Naboo. Anakin is still a conflicted young man, having come to training much later than most Jedi. Obi-Wan frequently must chastise him for letting his emotions guide him more than the Force. During the events of Attack of the Clones, Anakin's mother Shmi was captured and killed by Tusken Raiders in the Tatooine desert, sending Anakin into a homicidal rage—he slaughtered the entire Tusken camp, even children. His master, Obi-Wan, is unaware of this dark episode and is equally unaware that his Padawan has secretly wed Padme Amidala, Senator from Naboo. Anakin, whose affinity for machines is almost as strong as his love of flying, now had a mechanical right forearm, a replacement for a limb lost in a fateful duel with Darth Tyrannus, Dark Lord of the Sith.

Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan never asked to train Anakin Skywalker, but he has done everything in his power to make sure the powerful young "Chosen One" stays on the light side of the Force. A wise, jovial fellow with a dry wit and disarming charm that he uses to his advantage in every situation, Obi-Wan has built a reputation as a dogged investigator. He is intimately familiar with the seedy lower levels of Coruscant, the socially stratified city-planet at the heart of the Republic, and has numerous contacts, acquaintances, and friends that he can rely on to help out when he needs it. Obi-Wan is a capable pilot, though not nearly the equal of his apprentice, but dangerous in a tank, all the same.

Going somewhere?

Mace Windu
The first character you'll play in the game, Mace is the most talented light saber duelist in the Jedi Order. One of the highest-ranking members of the Jedi Council, this determined warrior never shirks from getting involved in a fight and personally led the Jedi assault team that landed on Geonosis at the end of Attack of the Clones. He's also the man responsible for the death of Jango Fett—the template for the Clone Army and separatist leader Count Dooku's right-hand man.

Count Dooku
The former master of Qui-Gon Jinn left the order long ago and has now resurfaced as the leader of the Separatists. While he outwardly professes indignation and resentment toward the passivity he sees in the Jedi Order, this is but a façade (and a particularly useful one when it comes to tempting Anakin Skywalker to give in to anger). Count Dooku is also the apprentice of Darth Sidious, Dark Lord of the Sith. As Darth Tyranus, dark side warrior, he plots with his master to manipulate galactic events that will bring about the fall of the Republic and the revenge of the Sith.

Cydon Prax
Left without an able lieutenant with the death of Jango Fett, Count Dooku hired the reptilian Chistori assassin Cydon Prax. Prax is a cold-blooded, gifted pilot with a battle tank modified to his own specifications. Prax has also been charged with the protection of young Boba Fett. Prax wears a custom suit of battle armor with a shoulder-mounted blaster cannon that makes him equally formidable in personal and vehicular combat.
