Have Ogre, Will Travel

The original Shrek film showed how much fun an ogre could have, while rescuing a princess and poking fun at traditional fairy tales. Shrek 2™ picks up exactly where the first movie left off, with our ogre hero engaged to marry his true love. Shrek 2 for the Xbox follows the plot of the movie, which features Shrek and Princess Fiona journeying to Far Far Away land to tell her royal parents about the wedding. Several of the new characters have reasons for disliking the ogre, however, and one of them is trying very hard to prevent the wedding.

Puss-in-Boots
One of the new characters that Shrek and his pals meet is the dashing adventurer Puss-in-Boots. Puss is a swashbuckling, carefree kitty that fights monsters for a living. He’s also famous for his ogre-killing ways—remember, in Shrek’s world, ogres aren’t all friendly, and most people run screaming when they see one. Though the ogre and the ogre-slayer are enemies at first, Shrek eventually wins Puss over, and the cat joins the adventure. For gamers, this means that you can add Puss to your traveling party, and you can take control of him during the game’s many missions and quests.

Your traveling companions.

King Harold and Queen Lillian
Princess Fiona’s parents may also want to stop Shrek. King Harold and Queen Lillian were both shocked to find that their beautiful daughter is not only engaged to an ogre, but that she has become an ogre herself. The king and queen both have their own secrets to hide, and they’re afraid Fiona’s wedding might reveal those secrets. But, does that make them Shrek’s enemies? In the game, when you arrive at the royal palace in Far Far Away, the king and queen put your gang to work as royal deputies. This could be a sign of trust and respect, or it could just be a way to keep the ogre busy, while they arrange to cancel the wedding. Either way, wandering around the kingdom, helping people, and fighting crime is one of the most appealing parts of Shrek 2.

Prince Charming
Another royal with a bone to pick is Prince Charming. The Prince is a handsome fellow, who had intended to rescue Fiona from Dragon in the first film, but Shrek beat him to it. He was also planning to marry Fiona after the rescue, but with Shrek on the scene, it looks like that will never happen. The Prince has it all: good looks, lots of money, and an important job, but his perfect life can never be complete without a beautiful princess as his bride.

Fairy Godmother
In Shrek’s world, things aren’t always what they seem. Shrek himself is a big, ugly ogre, but he’s also brave, loyal, and takes care of his friends. The Fairy Godmother, on the other hand, is a sweet and kindly lady with a soft voice, but she is much sneakier and more selfish than she appears. With the power of magic on her side, she works behind the scenes to undo the engagement. In public, she’s all smiles and kind words. But, there’s something going on between Fairy Godmother and King Harold, and we also know she’s very protective of Prince Charming. The most pleasant new character may in fact be the most dangerous to Shrek and Fiona.

The new characters in Shrek 2 promise to deliver plenty of laughs and surprises for both film goers and Xbox gamers. To experience the adventure for yourself, check out both the game and the film.
