By entering the Stride / Rock Band 2Play and Win Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") you (or, if a minor in your state of residence, your parent or legal guardian) agree to abide by these Official Rules and any other terms and conditions referenced in these Official Rules.
Update: Unfortunately, the Houston portion of the Rock Band Live Tour has been cancelled because the venue suffered damage during Hurricane Ike. As a result, the Grand Prize will now consist of a trip for the winner and three (3) guests to the Rock Band Live Tour event in Austin, Texas, on November 13, 2008. Please read the revised Official Rules below for full details.
1. Eligibility
This Sweepstakes is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States (includes the District of Columbia) who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Microsoft Corporation and any person engaged to work on this promotional program and their respective affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies and each of their immediate family members (including mother, father, sister, brother, child, husband or wife) and those living in their households are not eligible to enter or win.
2. Entry Period
This Sweepstakes begins at 12:01 A.M. Pacific Time (PT) on October 17, 2008, and ends at 11:59 P.M. PT on October 19, 2008 ("Entry Period").
3. How To Enter
There are two ways to enter: online or via US mail.
To enter online, you must have access to an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, and the Rock Band 2 video game, and be an Xbox LIVE® Gold membership in good standing. Once you have verified that you meet these system requirements, you must do all of the following:
Register via Xbox LIVE Marketplace by downloading the free Stride / Rock Band 2Xbox Play and Win Registration Gamer Picture ("Gamer Picture") before the close of the Entry Period on October 19, 2008. To download the Gamer Picture:
- Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Xbox LIVE Marketplace,
- Select "Game Store",
- Select "Themes & Gamer Pictures",
- Select "All Gamer Pictures",
- Select "Stride / Rock Band 2",
- Select "Stride / Rock Band 2Xbox Play and Win Registration Gamer Picture" from the list of available content and select "Confirm Download".
- Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download players will see a "Stride / Rock Band 2 Xbox Play and Win Registration Gamer Picture downloaded" message.
NOTE: Users may also access the free Stride / Rock Band 2Xbox Play and Win Registration Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.
You must register for the Sweepstakes using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to play Rockband multiplayer sessions on the Xbox LIVE service. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE account membership information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current. You can update your gamer profile information as described below.
Updating Account Information (example for e-mail):
You can verify/update your profile information via your account profile on Xbox.com or through the Xbox Dashboard:
- From the Xbox Dashboard:
- From the Xbox Dashboard, select "Marketplace Blade/Screen".
- Select "Account Management".
- Select "Contact Information".
- Enter your account e-mail and password, and then select "Sign In".
- E-mail address is located on the Contact Information screen.
- Via Xbox.com:
- Go to http://live.xbox.com/en-US/default.aspx.
- Sign in to Xbox using your Windows Live ID account email and password.
- Select "Manage Profile" on your "My Xbox" Home Page.
- Select "Billing and Contact Information".
- Update your Profile Information and then select "Save".
During the Entry Period, you will automatically receive one (1) entry into the sweepstakes drawing when you log in to the Xbox LIVE service on an Xbox 360 system and play a Rock Band 2 multiplayer session on the Xbox LIVE service.
To enter by U.S. mail without registering online or playing the Stride / Rock Band 2 game on the Xbox LIVE service, hand-print your first and last name, address, city, state, ZIP code, phone number, e-mail address (if any) on a 3x5 piece of paper and mail it to:

Limit one (1) entry per envelope. Mail-in entry(ies) must be postmarked by October 20, 2008, and received by October 24, 2008.
Entry Limit: We will only accept one (1) entry per person. Entries from the same individual received in excess of the limits stated herein will be automatically disqualified.
The use of automated devices to enter this Sweepstakes is prohibited. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, postage due or illegible entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become Microsoft's property and will not be returned.
4. Winner Selection / Prizes
On or around October 28, 2008, we, or a company acting under our authorization, will select one (1) Grand Prize Winner from among all eligible entries received.
Grand Prize:A trip for winner and three (3) guests to the Rock Band Live Tour event in Austin, TX on November 13, 2008 and the opportunity to play Rock Band 2 onstage during intermission. Trip includes:
- Round trip coach airfare from major airportclosest to winner's home for winner and guests.
- Two (2) nights standard hotel accommodations (two people per room) in Austin, TX, or nearby vicinity.
- Admissionfor winner and guests to the Rock Band Live Tour event on November 13, 2008 (If the event is cancelled for any reason, Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner other than to provide the travel portion of the prize minus the opportunity to attend event.
- Transportation for winner and guests to and from the hotel/airport.
Travel and tickets subject to availability and must be completed on dates specified by Sponsor. Trip winner’s travel companions will be required to execute a Liability/Publicity Release prior to issuance of travel documents. If a travel companion is a minor, he/she must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at his/her own expense if the parent/guardian is not the winner. Winner and guests must travel on same itinerary. If winner or guests lives within 100 miles of travel destination, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute alternative transportation for air travel.
Total ARV of Grand Prize: $6,160
All random drawings will be conducted under the supervision of Sponsor, whose decisions are final. Limit one (1) prize per person. Odds of winning are based on the number of entries received. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. Taxes on the prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Any and all guarantees and warranties for merchandise prizes are subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty or guarantee claim.
5. General Conditions
Sweepstakes entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Sweepstakes. This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Winners will be notified within seven (7) days after the drawing date via the contact information provided at time of entry, and may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release within seven (7) days following the date of attempted notification. Non-compliance within this time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Return of any prize / prize notification as undeliverable or failure to accept prize within the specified time period may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants further grant to Sponsor the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print in any other media in connection with the Sweepstakes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winner's names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Sponsor, its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Sweepstakes or any prize won.
6. Internet
If for any reason the Internet portion of this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Sweepstakes. In any such event, Microsoft, at its sole discretion, will select the winner(s) from eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the event requiring such termination, suspension or cancellation. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Microsoft is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by Microsoft on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
