The RalliSport ChallengeAh, the pleasant relaxation of an afternoon drive, crisp clean mountain air in your hair. Lush foliage glistens in the sun, a soft breeze whispering. Blood rushes to your head as the road dips, and your Audi Quattro sinks like a rock as it accelerates to 200 kph. Your eyes strain against the amplified forces of gravity as you crank the wheel over, setting the 530 horsepower coupe into a four-wheel drift that sends dirt and dust scattering in your wake. Relaxation my foot! This is a Rally, not an afternoon cruise!
Rally racing is a sport that hasn't really caught on in the United States, but it's vastly popular in other parts of the world. This sport pits drivers and their vehicles against some of the most unforgiving tracks and roads known to humankind. Of course, I use the term roads loosely. Average vehicles use them with caution, if they use them at all. Blazing out across the desert along one of these dusty gravel trails as your co-driver calls out approaching turns is like going bowling on the deck of a ten-foot boat innine-foot seas. RalliSport Challenge actually conveys the feel of rally racing, but with enough forgiveness in the realm of realism to keep you in the driver's seat for hours at a time. Combine that with some of the best graphics you've seen on the Xbox to date, and you've got one seriously good time.
Okay, there's the grass. Seemingly a minor thing, until you realize that Digital Illusions has modeled the individual blades of grass. You can see them shift in the breeze as you rocket past at speeds that could rattle your fillings loose.
