Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® 3 Black Arrow™

Assault Pack 1

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® 3 set a precedent for unprecedented downloadable content support. Hosts of maps are currently available for the game, adding a great deal of replay value to a game that already dominates in that regard.

Now, not to be outdone by its predecessor, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® 3 Black Arrow™ is offering its first barrage of new maps. Here's what you can look forward to …

The Village
No, not M. Night Shyamalan's spooky community. This is a tight-quartered village in Levanto, Italy, where the community is prepared to reward the best twitch shooters out there. Because of the small size of the map, the Village will offer a lot of quick skirmishes and short-range combat. In fact, this might be a good map for the more powerful, but shorter-ranged weapons. There are also a choice spots for those that want to protect their team with their marksman sniping abilities, but be careful. As soon as folks figure out these spots, they'll be looking for you. The Village is also a choice map for those that love to rush to objectives quickly, instead of slowly darting from cover to cover. The Village is available at no charge.

Welcome to the Killhouse.

On to the Premium Content …
The following four maps will be available as a premium content download. Five bucks for the whole lot.

Killhouse
I think the name says it all, but if not, here are a couple of notes. The Killhouse is a training facility (nicknamed Killhouse by the soldiers that train there, no doubt) designed for SWAT maneuvers. You can imagine a lot of close-quarters combat with tight choke points. In other words, it's a heavy combat location. You'll also be offered climbable boxes, which should help create a more vertical combat environment, as you'll have to be aware of more than just things at eye level.

Winter Lodge
Welcome to an abandoned lodge in the snow-happy comforts of Hudson Bay, Canada. The winter lodge is an old out-of-use building surrounded by snow and forest. The map isn't giant (though bigger than the Killhouse and Village), but the nature of the cover available on the map will make for a more thoughtful encounter, as you decide which way will best allow you to move forward without taking fire. It's an excellent map for both team-based modes and straight-up deathmatches.

Petroleum
A map appropriate for the times, Petroleum is an oil transport depot in Anha, Saudi Arabia. The map includes railroad tracks and a large hangar that houses vats of oil. All areas include multiple routes in and out, so a complete knowledge of the map and good team forethought will be a necessity. Petroleum promises to be a favorite for those hardcore players out there that love a lot of options … and a lot of potential danger.

Office 2
Here we have a three-story, all-indoors affair that promises to deliver a lot of tension. With three separate floors, small rooms, and a lot of hallways, all the possibilities for attack and defense are hard to grasp, making for an anything-can-happen sort of experience. Office 2 is medium-sized as well, so despite the three floors, you shouldn't be getting lost or find yourself out of the fray too often.

New maps are always welcome, but part of what separates the maps available in Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow is the level design. Everything in the maps is there for a reason, making for a balanced, combat-intense experience. If you're looking for a reason to hop back onto Black Arrow, or you're merely excited about a few more options when it comes to map selection, these beauties have you covered.
