Mother's Embrace:
Prey Final Boss Walkthrough

Tommy's road in Prey has led him through some unbelievably disturbing adventures, and he has, at last, found the source of it all; the devious mastermind behind the sphere is within his grasp and the opportunity to repel the invasion of the Dark Ones is just one level away.

This walkthrough will take you through the last three challenges that await you in Prey. Read on and success will be easily within your grasp.

Powering the Orb
Upon entering the first chamber, you'll find a rotating orb in the center and will be greeted by the unhelpful ramblings of the deeply disturbed Mother. First things first, walk up to the ship-spawning pedestal after it appears, and activate your ship.

Unlike the other ships you've piloted, this contraption works differently. You use the left stick to orbit around the rotating sphere and the right stick to aim. The only way for you to move forward is by pressing the left trigger, which will you give a momentary speed boost.

The key here is to activate all the nodes on the orb by charging them with electricity. Here's how to do it:

1. Line yourself up with each node individually. Use the light beam coming from each node to line your ship up properly.
2. Pull the left trigger to shoot your ship forward and then, using the right trigger, hit the node with the electrical shot. Usually you will need two direct hits to activate each node.
3. After each node is activated, a power beam will stream out of it. Make sure to avoid these as you navigate around to line up with the next node.

Watch the credits and walk through the final portal
in order to officially finish the game and earn the Savior
and Mother's Embrace achievements.

Unleashing the Mother
After being pulled into the orb and hearing the Mother's tragic tale, you'll need to break through her protective shell to instigate the final fight. Follow these steps:

1. As soon as the story cinematic is complete, switch to Spirit Walk and shoot arrows at the shielded areas surrounding the Mother. Each hit will highlight the area white. Make sure to tag each shielded area.
2. After you're done in Spirit Walk mode, switch back to your normal body and start shooting the highlighted shielded areas. Any gun will work, but you should use the Leech Gun. The nearby refills on ammo are endless.
3. Enemies will begin to pour out of portals as you take down the shields, but they are only a mild distraction. Take them down as they come and continue blasting away at the shields.

The Final Battle
Once the shields have been taken care of, you and the Mother will be ported to the last battlefield. You'll be warned that no mortal weapon can destroy her, but pay that no mind. The solution to the Mother's final destruction is simple.

1. You'll find three small stations around the edges of the battlefield. On the side of each station is a control panel.
2. Activate these to send floating mines up in the air.
3. When the Mother flies near one of the mines, shoot it. The explosion will bring down her shields, and when they do, hit her with everything you've got.
4. It's useful to stay near just one of the stations and use it for cover when she opens fire on you. When she's done, you can then send another mine from the same station. Wash, rinse, and repeat this process to win the battle.

Congratulations! With the evil Mother destroyed and a few wise words from Grandfather, the dark days of the Sphere are destroyed, and life, at least till the end of the credits, will return to normal. Speaking of which, make sure you watch the credits and walk through the final portal in order to officially finish the game and earn the Savior and Mother's Embrace achievements.
