Prey Multiplayer Options

At A Glance
  • Take a look at the multiplayer options for Prey on Xbox Live.

The disturbing but brilliant single player campaign in Prey may be getting all the press, and while it is certainly noteworthy, don't let it overshadow the fiercely intense multiplayer experience. This quick guide will set you straight on exactly what you can expect in Prey's online component.

If speed and mayhem are your game, give Prey
significant rotation online.

Modes of Prey
Multiplayer Prey is a throwback to a simpler time with complete dedication to deathmatch and team deathmatch game modes. The benefit here is that each level is tailor made for slick, fast-paced action and nothing else. There are no bases to worry about, no objectives to keep track of and each level has been designed with only combat in mind.

Simple doesn't mean basic though, so don't think there aren't plenty of options. All the essentials are right here. Each match can be customized with the following options:

  • Player Match, Ranked Match: These are standards for any Xbox LiveĀ® game, but they bear repeating here. Player Matches are unofficial matches open to everyone, so if you're looking to play with folks on your Friends List, this is your best bet. Ranked matches will affect your leaderboard ranking, and to avoid glitching, you won't be able to invite your Friends into these matches.

  • Map: There are eight maps to choose from, and veterans of the single-player missions should appreciate the locations as each level conjures memories of the epic single-player challenges, including the opening Roadhouse bar.
  • Team Damage: This option determines you and your teammates will take damage from friendly fire in team deathmatch games.
  • Frag Limit: You can set this option to as little as five or as much as a hundred. Whoever reaches the limit first wins the game.
  • Time Limit: From no time limit to as little as five minutes or as much as an hour, whoever has the most kills when time runs out (unless someone reaches the Frag Limit) wins.
  • Max Players: You can choose anywhere from two to eight players.
  • Private Slots: If you're participating in a Player Match game, use this options to reserve space for folks on your Friends List.

Types of Avatar
Variety is the spice of life, and with more than fourteen different character models to play as online, you can be sure that there will be plenty of distinct players running about the map. What's more, they run from the heroic (Tommy and his Grandfather) to the tragic (Mutilated Humans) to the mysterious (Hiders).

Online Achievements
Provided you needed any further incentive, there are eighteen online-specific achievements, and with just a little dedication, all are accessible. They include:

  • 25 Kills: You'll net a ten point achievement each for snagging 25 kills with the auto cannon, wrench, grenades, crawler launcher, rifle, sniper rifle, leech gun, and even spirit walk kills.
  • Solo Totals: You'll find individual achievements for scoring 50, 125, and 250 kills overall in your deathmatch career.
  • Team Totals: Likewise, you'll also score achievements for collecting 50, 125, and 250 overall kills in your team deatmatch career.

Multiplayer matches in Prey are about capturing pure, unadulterated action in a next-gen package. If speed and mayhem are your game, give Prey significant rotation online.
