Datacore Demolition Guide, Part One

At A Glance
  • Get help with PDZ's Datacore Demolition mission through destruction of the CPU.

Everyone needs a little help now and then, and giving you a running a start on the ground floor is usually the way to go. Whether you're stuck in the level or just want a helping hand to get you acquainted with Perfect Dark Zero™, this first-level walkthrough will set you in the right direction.

The Datacore Demolition level serves as training for you and Joanna, as her father uses the mission to judge her abilities. Make him proud! You begin just after sneaking past a couple rather unobservant guards.

Starts out easy enough.

Once the opening cut-scene is finished, shoot the spider-bot clinging to the door in front of you. Next, take down the two others that scurry across the surface and head through the door. Follow Chandra's advice in the next room and duck (click down on the left stick) under the laser trip-wire.

Follow the pathway into the next room and break the crates barring your way to the next doorway. Again, follow Chandra's advice and dive through the blue sensor lasers with the left bumper (left shoulder button). This gives the sentry gun fits and allows you to get through the doorway before it gets a lock on you.

Head through the next doorway and make a right into the next room, but don't go too far. Advance to the last "cubicle" wall and press A to enter cover mode. You should now see the camera in the doorway. You need to shoot this out to get through the door. Aim carefully at the lens and shoot from your covered location.

Use cover to avoid the camera's view.

Duck down before entering the next room and advance slowly to the railing. Press A to enter cover mode and you should see two guards below. You can use your sniper/aim mode from cover with your pistol. Line up a couple of good shots and take them down (headshots equal instant kills).

Head down the stairs and over to the far right corner of the room. To the left of the door is a datapad. Press left or right on the directional pad when next to the datapad to bring out your Datathief. This begins a mini-game that you should get used to. Here's how it works:

  • Wait until the opaque white sector rotates onto a blue section of your Datathief. When it does (the blue section will glow), press the A button.
  • The more blocks you successfully select, the faster the white section rotates. Take your time.
  • If you miss one, the section you highlighted glows red. Miss several times and you're knocked back to the previous section.

After finishing the Datathief mini-game you're greeted with a quick cut-scene showing your next objective. Once that's over, you take command of a floating Camspy. Head straight and ahead and take an immediate left. Follow this path all the way down to a small opening on the right hand side.

Head through the opening and stop short when you see the yellow lasers ahead. Turn to the right to see a fuse box and use the right trigger to short it out with an electrical burst. Turn to the left of the lasers to find another fuse box, and hit that one with a jolt as well. This brings down the lasers. Continue on.

Short those out.

Short those out.

You drop down one shaft and then another in quick succession. Head into the opening after the second drop, and then look upwards as you float forward. You should see another fuse box. Short this one out to take down the laser grid just around the corner ahead. Drop down the next shaft and head towards the glowing pillar of light. Once you're near it, tap the right bumper (right shoulder button) to detonate the Camspy.

Objective complete.

Objective complete.

Yay! You've destroyed the Datadyne CPU and completed your first major objective. Head on over to Part Two if you still need a little help, or try braving the next section on your own. Either way, you've just taken your first step into the stunning world of Perfect Dark Zero. Congratulations and good luck.
