- Microsoft® Windows® XP
- Microsoft® Windows Media® Player 9.0: If you don’t have it, download it here.
- A connection between your PC and your Xbox: Via a home network or direct crossover Ethernet cable.
Note: If you use Windows XP firewall, you will need to make some settings adjustments in Windows for Music Mixer PC to work properly. For detailed instructions, see http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/ports.asp
To learn how to set up a home network, click here. Both the Router Connection and the Windows ICS Connection should work for you.
To connect your PC to your Xbox video game system without a home network, you will first need an RJ-45 crossover Ethernet cable. (An Xbox System Link Cable is a crossover Ethernet cable.)
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your Xbox.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your PC.
- Reboot your PC and your Xbox video game system.

You may store up to 250 karaoke songs on your Xbox. If you’ve reached the limit and want to create space, here’s how to remove songs from your console:
- Start Xbox Music Mixer.
- Select Karaoke.
- Select Sing.
- Scroll through the list, and select a song you’d like to remove.
- Press X on the controller.
All songs imported from the PC may be removed in this way. Songs that come with Xbox Music Mixer are always available when the Xbox Music Mixer disc is in the disk drive.
You may import up to 100 songs at one time. There is no size limit for files. Music files stored with copy protection may not be transferred using the PC Tool. You may have up to 100 photos per slide show and up to 50 slide shows.

Managing your Xbox Music Mixer content is easiest when you first group and arrange it on your PC; however, you can also do it in Xbox Music Mixer.
For example, if you want to import your favorite CD tracks in the exact order they appear on the disc, you can put those 15 or so songs into a folder and import them as one import session. Save the session as a soundtrack with the name of the CD.
If you create your own mix of songs from different artists and different CDs, create a unique name for this soundtrack, so that you can enjoy it in exactly the order you want.
When arranging slide shows, it works best to import a complete slide show and give it a new name instead of adding to an existing one.
