Like any quality movie-based game, Meet the Robinsons uses the film as inspiration, drawing freely from the vibrant humor and essential plot points, but not sticking so closely to the film's plot as to bog down the game. There are lots of zany and unique adventures here created just for the game. These episodes offer not only a change of pace from the movie's storyline but also add depth to the characters and the world they populate.

Mechanical Aptitude
Part platformer, part action game, and part mystery, Meet the Robinsons takes the player on a wild ride of adventure and challenge, but manages to avoid frustration. This is largely due to the game's intuitive mechanics, which guide you along without fear of confusion.
Running to the edge of a platform causes you to leap across it, relieving you of the pressure of timing your jumps properly. When you need to hit a button, it will appear in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Under most circumstances, the A button will perform whatever current action is available to you, such as opening doors or using items.
Using the left bumper button enables auto-target mode, allowing you to lock onto the nearest enemy or item, and the right stick is used to switch to other points of interest. If you're really stuck, the reliable family robot Carl is on hand to offer you advice in tough situations.

Inventive Features
Helping to separate Meet the Robinsons from a standard mission-by-mission game are a series of features that add depth and accessibility to the world surrounding the Robinson clan. Use blueprints and spare parts to engineer all manner of gadgets and gizmos to assist Wilbur in his travels. Gather the components required for each item by using your disassembler gun to break objects down into their base parts.
Scan items to download information for clues on how to complete your missions. This is a fun and interesting tool to use in general. Scanning characters will provide you with background information on them, letting you know just how they fit into the world.
There are many mini-games packed into Meet the Robinsons, all suitable for replaying at any time. Once you unlock them, you can access them under the mini-games menu to play at your convenience. You can also start winning achievements almost immediately in the game, as opposed to many games that don't reward you until after extensive play time.
Meet the Robinsons for Xbox 360™ recreates the lavishly unique world of the movie, accurately capturing the creative environments and over-the-top characters. The humor, wit, and originality are all intact and better yet, the gameplay matches the style and creativity of the story.
