Xbox LIVE Madden Bowl Play & Win Sweepstakes

Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

By entering the Xbox LIVE "Madden Bowl" Play & Win Sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") you (or, if a minor in your state/province of residence, your parent or legal guardian) agree to abide by these Official Rules and any other terms and conditions referenced in these Official Rules.

1.       Eligibility

This Sweepstakes is only open to legal residents of the 50 United States (includes the District of Columbia) and Canada who are 14 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Microsoft Corporation ("Sponsor"), Microsoft Canada Co., Electronic Arts, Inc., and any person engaged to work on this promotional program and their respective affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies and each of their immediate family members (including mother, father, sister, brother, child, husband or wife) and those living in their households are not eligible to enter or win.

2.     Promotion Period

This Promotion begins at 12:01 A.M. Eastern Time (ET) on January 31, 2008, and ends at 11:59 P.M. ET on February 3, 2008 ("Promotion Period") and consists of four (4) separate Prize Periods as follows (each, a "Prize Period"). Entries will be eligible for the Prize Period for which they are received only and will not be eligible for subsequent Prize Periods.

3.     How To Enter

There are two ways to enter: online or via mail

To enter online, you (the "Tournament Commissioner") must do all of the following:

First, set up a Tournament consisting of a minimum of one (1) participant (yourself) and a maximum of sixteen (16) participants including yourself (collectively, the "Tournament" and each, a "Tournament Participant"). Each Tournament Participant must have access to an Xbox 360 system and the Madden NFL 08 video game and be an Xbox LIVE Gold level member in good standing.

Once you have verified that you and each Tournament Participant in your Tournament meet these system requirements, you, as the Tournament Commissioner, must register for the Sweepstakes. There are two ways to register:

(1)   Register as the Tournament Commissioner for your Tournament online before the close of the Promotion Period.

OR,

(2)   Register as the Tournament Commissioner for your Tournament via Xbox LIVE Marketplace by downloading the free 2008 Madden Bowl Gamer Picture ("Gamer Picture".) before the close of the Promotion Period. To download the Gamer Picture:

1. Sign in to Xbox LIVE and access the Xbox LIVE Marketplace
2. Select Game Store
3. Select All Games
4. Select Madden NFL 08
5. Select 2008 Madden Bowl Gamer Picture from the list of available content and select Confirm Download
6. Upon the successful completion of the Gamer Picture download Players will see a "Thank You for Registering" message.

NOTE: Users may also access the free 2008 Madden Bowl Gamer Picture via the banner ads running on the Xbox LIVE dashboard.

You must register for the Sweepstakes using the same Xbox LIVE gamertag that you will use to play in your Tournament on the Xbox LIVE service during a Prize Period. Please be sure that your Xbox LIVE gamer profile information including e-mail address, mailing address and phone is correct and current. You can update your gamer profile information as described below

Updating Account Information (example for e-mail):

To verify/update your e-mail address:

1. From the Xbox Dashboard, select "Marketplace Blade/Screen".
2. Select "Account Management".
3. Select "Contact Information".
4. Enter your account e-mail and password, and then select "Sign In".
5. E-mail address is located on the Contact Information screen.

During the Promotion Period, you, the Tournament Commissioner, must log-on to the Xbox LIVE service on an Xbox 360 system and play in your Tournament.

You, the Tournament Commissioner will automatically receive one (1) entry when you log in to the Xbox LIVE service on an Xbox 360 system andplay a Madden NFL 08 multiplayer session in your Tournament during a Prize Period. Entries will be eligible for the Prize Period for which they are received only and will not be eligible for subsequent Prize Periods.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR REGISTRATION AND TOURNAMENT

Tournament Participants must not participate in more than one Tournament. Subsequent registrations and participation attempts by a single person are ineligible. In order for Tournament Participants to receive a prize, you, the Tournament Commissioner must identify them as Tournament Participants in your Tournament and they must have logged-on to the Xbox LIVE service on an Xbox 360 system and played in your Tournament at the same time that you, the Tournament Commissioner, played.

To enter by mail, without creating and participating in a Tournament, hand-print your name, address, city, state/province, ZIP/postal code, phone number, e-mail address (if any) and the Prize Period (i.e., Prize Period 1, 2, 3, or 4) on a 3x5 piece of paper and mail it to:

If you enter via mail, you are not required to create or play in a Tournament, and you must not identify any Tournament Participants. Mail-in entry(ies) must be postmarked by Monday, February 4, 2008, and received by Monday, February 11, 2008, to be eligible. Limit one (1) entry per outer mailing envelope.

Entry Limit: Limit one (1) entry per person per Prize Period, regardless of the entry method. Entries from the same individual or e-mail or household address received in excess of the limits stated herein will be automatically disqualified. The use of automated devices to enter this Sweepstakes is prohibited. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, postage due or illegible entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All entries become Microsoft's property and will not be returned.

4.    Winner Selection / Prizes

Daily Team Prize Period Drawings

On or around Monday, February 18, 2008, twenty-one (21) potential winners will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received during each Prize Period.

If a selected winner is a Tournament Commissioner (i.e., a person who submitted an entry via an online method of entry), then such Tournament Commissioner and the eligible Tournament Participants (if applicable) that he or she identifies and that Sponsor confirms as participating in his or her Tournament, up to fifteen (15) Tournament Participants total,, will be named potential winners of one of the Daily Team Prizes described below. If a selected winner is not a Tournament Commissioner (i.e., a person who submitted an entry via the mail method of entry), then just the person whose name is selected will be named the potential winner of one of the Daily Team Prizes described below and he or she may only receive one (1) Daily Team Prize for himself or herself.  

All potential winners must meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Paragraph 1 above and all prize awards are subject to verification.

Four (4) Daily Team First Prizes Available (1 per Prize Period): A prize package for the Tournament Commissioner and, if applicable, each Tournament Participant in his or her Tournament, up to 15 Tournament Participants total, that consists of the following items:

• EA SPORTS 08 Xbox 360 Video Game Pack (Approximate Retail Value (ARV), $240 USD), consisting of the following:
  • Madden NFL 08

Twenty (20) Daily Team Second Prizes Available (5 per Prize Period): A prize package for the Tournament Commissioner and, if applicable, each Tournament Participant in his or her Tournament, up to 15 Tournament Participants total, that consists of 400 Microsoft Points (ARV $5.00).

Sixty (60) Daily Team Third Prizes Available (15 per Prize Period): A prize package for the Tournament Commissioner and, if applicable, each Tournament Participant in his or her Tournament, up to 15 Tournament Participants total, that consists of 100 Microsoft Points.(ARV $1.25)

Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawings

All Tournament Commissioners and/or persons that entered via the mail method of entry and were selected to win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize, or Team Third Prize in a single Daily Team Prize Period Drawing (21 total) will automatically receive one (1) entry into a Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawing. There will be a total of four (4) separate Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawings. After each Daily Team Prize Period Drawing, one (1) Tournament Commissioner will be selected in a random drawing from among the Tournament Commissioners that win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize, or Team Third Prize during a given Prize Period to win the following prize. Non-winning entries from one (1) Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawing will not carry over to subsequent Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawings.

Four (4)Daily Commissioner Grand Prizes Available (1 per day): A prize package consisting of the following items:

Tournament Commissioner Grand Prize Drawing

All Tournament Commissioners and/or persons that entered via the mail method of entry and were selected to win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize or Team Third Prize throughout the entire Promotion Period (84 total) will automatically receive one (1) entry into the Tournament Commissioner Grand Prize Drawing. After all of the Daily Team and Tournament Commissioner Prize Period Drawings, one (1) winner will be selected in a random drawing from among the Tournament Commissioners and/or persons that entered via the mail method of entry and were selected to win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize or Team Third Prize to win the Tournament Commissioner Grand Prize described below.

One (1) Daily Commissioner Grand Prize Available: A prize package consisting of the following items:

A prize package for the Tournament Commissioner and guest to New York City to attend EA Sports' football draft events on April 26-27, 2008. This prize includes round trip coach airfare from major airport closest to winner's home, three (nights, standard, double occupancy hotel accommodations (2 people, 1 room), transfers to and from hotel/airport, and a $150.00 stipend (ARV, $3,000 USD).

Actual value depends on date/time/destination, and difference between actual value and stated value will not be awarded. Trip winner's travel companion will be required to execute a Liability/Publicity Release prior to issuance of travel documents. If a travel companion is a minor, he/she must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at his/her own expense if the parent/guardian is not the winner. Travel subject to availability and must be completed on dates specified by the Sponsor or prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. The winner is solely responsible for obtaining any and all travel documentation (including but not limited to a valid passport and any required travel Visas) necessary for travel to the U.S. Some restrictions may apply. No cancellation of reservation or transfer of reservation to another date after reservation has been made. If the winner lives within 100 miles of EA Sports' draft event location, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute air travel for an alternative means of transportation. If the EA Sports draft event is cancelled for any reason, Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the winner other than to provide the travel portion of the prize minus the opportunity to attend EA Sports' draft event.

Approximate Retail Value of all prizes combined: $29,920 USD

All random drawings will be conducted under the supervision of Sponsor, whose decisions are final. Odds of winning a Daily Team Prize depend on the number of eligible entries received during each Prize Period. Odds of winning a Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize depend on the number of Tournament Commissioners and/or persons that entered via the Mail method of entry selected to win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize, or Team Third Prize in a given Prize Period; estimated to be 1:21. Odds of winning a Tournament Commissioner Grand Prize depend on the number of Tournament Commissioners and/or persons that entered via the Mail method of entry selected to win a Team First Prize, Team Second Prize, or Team Third Prize during the entire Promotion Period; estimated to be 1:84. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Prizes will be awarded on an individual basis to the selected winner / Tournament Commissioner and, if applicable, the eligible Tournament Participants that participated in his or her Tournament.  Limit one (1) Daily Team Prize, one (1) Daily Tournament Commissioner Prize, and one (1) Tournament Commissioner Grand Prize per person. If you are selected as a winner, and you are a Tournament Commissioner, you will be notified using the contact information provided at the time of entry and will be required to provide valid Xbox LIVE gamertags for all Tournament Participants in your Tournament. If you are a Tournament Participant and your Tournament Commissioner is selected as a winner, you will be notified via the contact information provided by your Tournament Commissioner. Sponsor will only contact Tournament Participants that the officially registered Tournament Commissioner identifies, and the Tournament Commissioner will be identified in the prize notification. Those potential winners in Canada will be required to correctly answer, unaided and without mechanical or electronic assistance, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing technical question, to be administered by telephone at a mutually convenient time. Sponsor is not responsible for any disputes arising between a Tournament Commissioner and Tournament Participants regarding prize dispersal.  No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. Taxes on the prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner. Any and all guarantees and warranties for merchandise prizes are subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions, and winners agree to look solely to such manufacturers for any such warranty or guarantee claim.

5.   General Conditions

Sweepstakes entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Sweepstakes. This Sweepstakes is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, provincial, state and local laws and regulations apply. Winning Tournament Commissioners will be notified within seven (7) days after the drawing date via email and may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release within seven (7) days following the date of attempted notification. Winning Tournament Participants will be notified within seven (7) days upon confirmation of Tournament Commissioner's eligibility using the contact information provided by the Tournament Commissioner and may be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability/Publicity Release within seven (7) days following the date of attempted notification Failure to return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability / Publicity Release within the specified time period may result in disqualification and either selection of an alternate winners or forfeiture of prize. Return of any prize / prize notification as undeliverable or failure to accept any prize within the specified time period may result in disqualification and either selection of an alternate winner or forfeiture of prize. Entrants further grant to Sponsor the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print in any other media in connection with the Sweepstakes. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winner's names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Sponsor, its respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Sweepstakes or any prize won.

6.   Internet

If for any reason the Internet portion of this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Sweepstakes. In any such event, Microsoft, at its sole discretion, will select the winner(s) from eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the event requiring such termination, suspension or cancellation. Microsoft assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Microsoft is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email or entry to be received by Microsoft on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

Entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.

The names of the winners will be posted online on or around Monday, March 10, 2008, at: www.xbox.com/winners.

10. Quebec Residents

With respect to Québec residents and to entries originating within the Province of Québec, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
