With an Xbox Live account and a mere $4.99, Xbox golfers can now play the North Course at Arizona’s award-winning Dove Mountain golf resort, The Gallery. Set against the beautiful Tortolita Mountains just north of Tucson, The Gallery North is an 18-hole beauty constructed in 1998 and built by former PGA stars Tom Lehman and Jim Fought. Fought is famous as a course architect as well as a player, and his keen design sense is evident on Gallery North.
The 7,400-yard course takes full advantage of Arizona’s natural beauty, featuring colorful cacti and other local plants against a backdrop of picturesque mountains and the wide-open sky. Natural rock formations are scattered along the course and many holes offer spectacular views of the surrounding canyons and desert landscape. Just remember to check the wind and aim accordingly because beyond the lush fairways and expansive greens is the harsh natural beauty of the Arizona desert. Stick to the fairways because you don’t want to be wandering around looking for a lost ball in that heat.
The Gallery North has won several prestigious awards in its first 15 years, including being named to Golf week magazine’s Top 100 Modern Courses in America and Golf Digest’s Top 25 Courses in Arizona. It is one of the few courses open to the public as well as the pros, and the monster par 5 at #9 was earned international acclaim in 2003 when Golf Magazine included it on their list of the 500 best holes in the world.
